Has done 89000 kilometers and is in mint condition with Blue Leather interior. Automatic, power everything. Belonged to Kerry Stokes a prominent Aussie businessman. Th928S4 must be the most under rated car (By the non Porsche owning public)ever. Mine will do 270 kilometres per hour and to be honest the experience is totally fuss free and relaxed. It feels totally safe and rock solid the whole time. The only modification is 18 inch wheels with z rated 45 profile tyres. They appear to be original Porsche wheels off a much later car. I think they look hot and most people seem very impressed withthe look of the vehicle. I enjoy everything about it, and I guess that is why I bought it. Car just goes where you point it and never feels stressed or on the edge; and our roads are not especially good and certainly were not designed for those speeds. |

just got my first porsche a 1983 928, I want to check the timing belt.... odometer cog was shot not sure of mileage.. sat for two years. Engine sounds great, rear engine oil leak driping on the exhaust... had some minor stuff.. I have a lot of exp with 3,5 &7 series bmw. similar electric problems. Our roads here are some of the worst in the world especially on the backroads away from the highways. Owned my car now for 8 years and its probably the safest and one of the fastest point to point cars of all time(i've owned and own (benz, bms, citroen, maserati, 246 dino etc) quite a few other cars but this is the best). Its also built like a tank. No major problems, just mainly routine stuff electrics etc. Done over 100K here and the 928 is used as a daily car. thanks for a great site and all the extremely useful information. |

I have been a mercedez Benz driver all my life. I currently own a C280 1999 Benz mint condition with only 39,000 miles. Previously owned a 1988 E300 and 2003 SLK320. Benz has a nice appeal to it until I recently purchased a 1980 Porsche 928 with only 140,042 original miles. Used to be owned by an Australian Hollywood celebrity. It is grand prix white weissach. Still learning about this EXCELLENT CAR! It is a little fixer and still needs to be tuned up, but I already went over 100mph going from San Francisco to Sacramento California. I am the the fifth owner and purschased it from my brother in law who is a Porsche enthusiast. I guess he didn't know what he had! Car is awesome in every respect! More power to you and your site. | Comments: | Enjoyed your ambitious 928 set up. I have a naked 1980 5spd. My bass ackwards resto/set-up : 1) perfect petro blau ext. 2) Installed many dead cows & 1989 S4 black leather seats for a total blue/black int. 3) suspension, brakes to come. 4) motor? probably a 5ltr block for torque>.
A thought: I spent four years stationed in Germany with lots of Porsches; just came back from a 2500mi xcountry; never passed, no tickets and wondering how much more I need or could ask of a 24yr old daily driver ????????????? |

| Comments: | I have owned several 928s but now have the one I will keep. Guards Red 928SE. The SE stands for sports equipment and is a factory S4 manual with upgraded, magnesium wheels (I changed to 18'' split rims), sports trim and seats, lighter wiring loom, twin exhausts and no extras like sun roofs etc, oh and 20 BHP more than standard. Porsche made 42 SE models and they are the fastest factory 928s because they're light and specially tuned. I just love sliding around corners sideways and hussing it up, cheers all the shark owners!!!! |

| Comments: | i bought a 1979 928 teal blue green with 67,000 mi 5 speed i replaced the tranny whith a new 5 speed geard to 205 mph. so far she's been up to 180 peged on speedometer going for the north hollywood speedo upgrade so it will read 200 when im going 200 the upgrade of all major internals +intercooler supercharger . it is the sports car to have i had a audi s4 twin turbo suped up to 403 hp 428 tq dyno at 73 temp and this stock allmost never driven car on a scale of 10, 20 times beter if u over steer gear down blip it and u exit side ways at 120 on target the only problem is we need rear tires that dont were out!!!!!!! |

| Comments: | Thoroughly enjoyed your site. Now I remember that there was someone in NV who got a ticket a few hours after ownership, and was unabashed about it, I guess it was you. Liked your toys and other memorabilia the most. I also collect 928 stuff: I have an old phone shaped into a red 928S; found some cheap 1/72 928 GTS (you can tell by the rear flares); a Herpa (maybe 1/144); Radio Shack souped-up 928 racer, some of the Red Box 1/35. I hit the toy swap meets looking for some 928 toys. I met you at Devek Days and admired your seats and rims; unfortunately, time went so quicly at Sharktoberfest and didn't have much time to look you up and chat. Just got a silver 87 S4; our cars are siblings. I've noticed though that my 82 AT sounds more raw and sporty.
I suggest and hope someday we have a "928 Toys" day and show off our collection/magazines/stuff. I think that will be a great event. |

I am impressed of the systematic way of the 'hobby work' you are doing - I mean, I am doing almost the same amount of jobs on my car, but I have more than enough to concentrate on the mechanical work (and I have access to a garage with car lift in all week-ends), but you have also resources to make very nice and professional documentation - Really well done! I thought you were a School teacher or a IT man with mechanical flair, but then I learnt from www.p-caronline.com that you are transportation aluminium pipes from cost to cost - Will that means that you are a trucker? If yes, then I think you have potential for a promotion! I read your interesting write-up 'Pinch Collar and Drive Shaft Movement' and is interested to hear if you found the answer and stopped the movement? I checked mine today every thing looks OK - That's adjusted according to Shop Manual II page 39-51 'Measure X' = 0.3 + 0.2 mm In manual III page 39-137/138 (4 speed auto) the same distance washers is shown, but marked with * and a note telling that these are deleted from 1985 - I am looking for the final answer Again congratulation with your nice and professional work - Well done! This vehicle has top end speed like a runaway freighttrain and the brakes to spot it just as fast. however sometimes i wish there was something i could add to the car but, when you think about it, the 928 is in need for nothing. my only problem is driving on the bad streets of new orleans and trying to protect that front end spoiler. it's be remounded approximately ten times. i've gotten pretty good at it. everyone loves the car. |

After approx 600 miles, as i was using the kick down for about the 8th time in about 30 mins on the motorway (freeway) i lost all drive, the torque tube shaft had sheared, it is now in a auto transmission specialist being repaired under limited warranty. i would be most gratefull if you could tell me was it the way i drove the car by using the kickdown as frequently as i did in a short time, would that have caused it to snap.
i would like to know as if that was the cause, i will be sure not to do it again. love the car and its accelaration. brilliant site!!! |

| Comments: | I have had my 87 S4 for nearly eight years. I used to change my cars every year or so but what do you get after a 928. Its approaching 100,000 miles and I am constantly fixing bits and pieces. It lives in the gutter in central London, it has a few dents and scratches but I think its great.
The only problem I have at the moment is the occasional bang that comes from inside the car. Its at the back, its not metallic and it sounds like a an air valve popping open. Any ideas ?? |

| Comments: | i like ur website, its pretty cool....i like it almost as much as i like my s4.i realy admire the fact that u do most of the work ( modifications) yourself,i wish i had the knowhow or the balls to get down and dirty with my car. i love driving my car its awesome the biggest kick i got from it, was blowing away a 5.0 mustang on the belt parkway (i live in bklyn n.y.)most of the time i just cruise, there's not many places in bklyn to speed i guess thats a good thing.i trust myself behind the wheel,i just dont trust others,u know what i mean .yo,ur not the only one with a silver shark.mines got a blue gut,53000mi,mille miglia 17in. twist (replicas) wheels, bridgestone S03's and i just ordered the rmb exhaust,i cant wait to hear it.i hate to blow my own horn but my car is sweeeeeet.the interior and the paint are unbelievable.i just had the 60,000mi tune up (i couldn't wait) ihad the timing belt done,i had the cam sprockets changed,also had the steering rack changed ,that sucked, that alone cost $2500.00 also the mechnic said he adjusted something that gave me more oomph!!! at the bottom end...i acually felt it. the car is so much more rsponsive with the work i had done to it.believe me ura lucky guy to be able to do all those mods yourself. hey it gets realy sticky in the summer here in the big apple so that hot air that gets in realy sucks...im hoping that with the a/c head unit that i just got replaced under warranty, the next summer wont be so bad.if its not better im realy gonna consider doing those mods that u did..i just hate the fact that i gotta take the interior apart to do it..im like a paronoid schitso....i think if i do that then the rattles are gonna start.i wont even upgrade my stereo because of that reason..........anyway when i get the rmb im gonna pay close attention to your instructions and attempt it.. i wished u lived closer i could sit and bullshit about my car for hrs..anyway feel free to write or send stuff, later man....... |
