| Comments: | This is a update in my search for family of my father. He was at Bea Hamiltons boarding house in Augusta along with two little girls. My dad was chosen and his birthdate is May,15.1936. I am found Bea Hamilton seemed to keep the correct birthdate. She was friends with my aunts and no adoption papers were ever filed and it seems no one is missing my father.
Bea Hamilton also took the children of two other friends and along with other things I have dug up I found out that Bea Hamilton's sister was the wicked witch in the wizard of oz and thus she had her hollywood connection sending children out west as actors could not adopt in ca. without a set income. Bud abbotts wife and baby doctor came here to get a child. This being in the augusta chronicle a few years ago. I would like for the children or anyone with ties to Bea Hamilton to get in touch with me and see if we cannot form some sort of much needed support group. Female born January 19, 1960 Washington, D.C., George Washington University Hospital Birth mothers name: Betty Stevens Birthfather: Unknown Private adoption through Montgomery County, Maryland District Court handled by my uncle, Robert Symonds(deceased) Birth mother used mother’s OB/GYN and my parents covered all of her medical expenses. Betty Stevens was caucasian, Protestant. and unmarried and said she was from Upstate New York and came to Washington, D.C. to have her baby. She stayed in a home for unwed mothers located at 1702 Q Street, NW, until I was born. This may have been a boarding or apartment house (now it’s condos). She met my dad as she was a customer of his dry cleaning/laundry establishment and approached him as she heard my parents were interested in adopting. She placed me in my mom’s arms outside of the hospital on January 26, 1960 and she was not seen or heard from again, although it was later rumored that my birthparents married. She had told my mother that she was thinking of moving to Florida and attending college. My parents also offered to help her financially after my birth and she declined. I’ve registered with the ISRR, the Maryland Mutual consent registry and am on just about every web site out there. I have a CI from for Maryland and she has indicated that she has no info that I don’t and actually mine is in more detail. The only difference in what she told the social worker that handled the interview is that that she got pregnant in D.C. while attending college with my birthfather. My file contains no date of birth, no town, no physical description of her, nothing… I am very discouraged, but am still hopeful to someday find her.
