Comments:I was just wondering where Ray got its name. Maybe it was named after one of my relatives. Does anyone know. I remember going through there in about 1971 and my car broke down. A nearby farmer helped me out by getting me a rocker arm for my engine from an old car in his woods. It worked for several thousand more miles.

Comments:Originally from Elgin, I've been traveling thru ND on the internet and see that a lot of the little towns' guest books need livening up. So added to all the other qualities of ND I give you the truth. Am writing a book called "What Is Truth?" Putting on my page as I write. Free. Controversial. You probably won't like it but you can't change it.

Comments:A nice weekend for the Annual Grain Palace Days...The parade got off to a great start with the fire engines screaming down mainstreet 3 minutes arealy to attack a fire...good job guys! Lots of people lined the parade route, great roast pork sandwiches, beans & potato salad at the Grain Palace, and the memorable "kiddie rides" by the Ray Lions. Of course the rodeo on Saturday and Sunday is always fun. A couple of good bands for street dances both Friday and Saturday night, mud volleyball Saturday afternoon, a pancake breakfast at the golf course on Sunday morning, inter-demoninational church service in the Grain palace also on Sunday morning.....A GREAT time was had by everyone, including and especially those that could make it back for the class of '96 - 10 year reunion.
Good job to all who helped make it happen...it's a lot of hard work by a few...and we could use more volunteers next year.
Proud to be a Ray resident - Bernie Arcand

Comments:I was born and raised in Germany and came here to the US about 12 years ago.
Now married for 11 years with 4 beautiful boy in the age of 4 to 9 with my wife expecting. More then ever it becomes clear to me, how important the value I have received as a child are. Unfortunately these values are lost here in New York. The schools have bars on there windows, you cannot let the children play outside or explore and this is just the beginning.
I am a professional in the Hospitality Industry and make good money, but I am afraid for my children and I do not want to bring them up in a place like this.
I am thinking of opening my own restaurant and looking for the right location. But my main concern are my children in a place where I can raise them without fear and worries.
North Dakota always appealed to me, so I would like some more information, in regards of Housing, Schools, Hospitals,
Restaurants, etc.
I am looking forward to you responds,
Best Regards,
Gerd A. Lieske

There are some Adams in Ray (I think), not sure that they would be related, you might try getting ahold of Louise Dokken, her email address is listed below, as she was selling the book on Ray. Not sure if she can help or not, but it's worth a shot. www.nccray.com is another local site for the town of Ray. One never knows who you may be able to find that may know something.
Good luck with your search!!

Hope everything is going well for all of you--sounds like the harvest when well this year...
FYI Below is an article that we will run this weeks' edition of the Williston Herald and Tioga Tribune.

Mother is doing fairly well..
She is in need of care, her short term memory is not what it used to be (mine is not either-nor is my long term!).
She remembers well, our childhood days and would love to be refreshed with some memories. Tammy Tong/Hill-- I remember some horse momories--you city girl!!!!
Her birthday is September 21st but it is never too late (or early) to send a card/greeting....
Thank You all so much!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIE!!!
Marie Binde-Qualley will turn 89 years old this month.
Her children are asking her family, friends and neighbors to send a birthday card to her. In addition, we ask you to include a picture of yourself/family or a favorite memory or short story, that we can read to her.
Marie was a resident of the Bethel Home in Williston until recently when she was moved to Kalispell, MT to be closer to her children.
Thank you, in advance, for your time and thoughtfulness.
