Your voice is amazing! It has been ages since I watched Pokemon. I started watching it when I was 5 years old and I traded the cards at school but then they were banned for some stupid reason at my school so then I started watching Pokemon less and less until I stopped watching it. Now i'm 14 years old. I've recently come back to it and when I heard Ash's voice I couldn't bare to listen to it! It's not right! It's like he's a completely different person! Thank you so much for your time yesterday (Friday,September 25, 2009)at the Anime Festival. It really made my day to talk to all of you. I have a lot of great info and I plan on spreading the word by getting it published in my school magazine. Everything will pertain to mostly voice acting in my article for "Third Rail" magazine (a publication on campus of the college of staten island). On a side note, I also feel as an artist myself, I learned a lot. I also felt like my life has changed. The best way to describe how would be to compare it to going to the eye doctor. You sit in a chair with this giant mask in front of you, and every so often the eye doctor changes the way everything looks. The visibility of the lens is completely out of the viewer's control. Sometimes the view gets clearer; and what feels like much of the time, the viewer doesn't know what is ahead of them. Yesterday, after meeting all of you at the signing, and listening to your words at the "Voice Acting 101" I gained a clearer view. Today (September 26, 2009) I might be able to show up again. Somethings in my schedule have cleared up, and it'd be an honor to meet you all again. Miraculously, I have also been encouraged to go and audition at that auction. So if you read this post seeing me there, just know I never originally intended to go. I don't know if it's THE right thing to do, but oddly enough it feels true to who I am or could be. I just feel like things are moving so fast, and I really felt like someone had taken the blindfold off. Well I just want to thank you again. You were part of my childhood, and you really did add to who Ash Catchum is. I remember the first episodes too. Ash and Gary get Poke'gear, Ash meets Pikachu, Pikachu saves Ash, Ash steals Misty's bike, Ash takes Pikachu to the hospital and saves Pikachu. The show was the best part of it all for me, I loved the characters and the stories on that show. Many other shows(and even movies)like "Poke'Mon" definitely inspired me to want to get involved in story making process. So, thank you for working on Poke'mon (no matter how silly some people might think a kids show is) and thinking of how important it was to us. I think I wrote too much, but I'll just say thanks for everything here. That way you could skip the mushy stuff. Take care. :) ;) :( ~>() :) |

I grew up loving Pokemon. I can still remember watching it on Cartoon Network at 9pm every weeknight. I followed the series all the way up until the original voice actors were cut. It pains me to see what PUSA has done to the show. Nothing personal to the current voice actors of Pokemon, but they're not cut out for it. The original VA of Pokemon set very high standards....standards which cannot be met by anyone else. But the one thing I feel the worst part about is Maddie Blaustein died as she will never go back however I am quite certain that PUSA will be forced to give it back to you however one character will still not be the same. What resulted in the Ash's voice change? 3- When people became more aware of the way dubbing worked in 4Kids, at which point started all the criticism that they suffer to this day, were there talks of retaining Pokemon's Japanese origin intact which required re-dubbing and using the original names character names? 4- Every voice actor and actress has a signature character, Vic Mignogna has Edward Elric of Fullmetal Alchemist, Peter Cullen has Optimus Prime of Transformers, Brad Swaile has Light Yagami of Death Note. And most consider Ash your signature character. Do you consider Ash to be your favorite character to have played, especially since you haven't (at least not to my knowledge) recycled his voice to other characters. |
