Comments:Does anyone have a Technics SXU60 handbook that either they don't need or that they can loan me, please? My Mother has been asked to play the newly donated organ at the nursing home where my Father is being cared for, and to her dismay there is no handbook to enable her to reset previous preferences. I would need to photocopy the details for her and send them by mail if the handbook needs returning. I need to be able to get this done before the middle of December, so that she can familiarise herself with the keyboards, ready for playing it for their Christmas celebrations. Thank you! Liz

Comments:Good evening Vincent,
thanks for your website, it's a jewel among the pebbles.
the reason I found your site is because i have just purchased a Technics SX EN3 XL which I have so far been unable to find much real info about it.
I purchased it on our main auction site called TradeMe http://www.trademe.co.nz for $260 NZ...$188.51 US.
this is the description given by the previous owner.Quote/Technics SX EN3 XL Organ with bass pedals, floppy drive, Volume pedal also has a wah wah type effect. Easy to transport as the keyboards detach from the base. Very good condition. Couple of minor nicks in wood at side. These organs are highly sought after and are selling on Ebay for around US $800. Check out You tube to hear what these machines can do. Sorry no manual but this can be purchased online for about $25. /end quote.
You can view a front view of the organ at:-
http://eliza.50g.com/108381116_full.jpg
I am picking it up on Monday.
Thankyou again for your website. It is a real mine of information.
Mike L.

Comments:Hi, Just located this site on Firefox searching for information on my Technics GN3 organ. I am retired and now have time to explore this fine instrument. It is rarely used now because the removable disk drive is working very intermittently. I have about forty years working in electronics with Philips but have had no success in getting the multiple 3 1/2 inch DD disks to load into the organ. The removable drive is clean inside, cleaned heads and reinstalled. One floppy does work with a MIDI file. I have used DOS, Windows 95 to XP Pro to format in different modes but with no success. Is there software out there to input music through the MIDI input? I have not been able to get any technical information on this system. I do have several manuals that came with the organ but have had no luck using the information. Do you know where I can get useable information. Thank You,
Howard

I recently bought a used Yamaha ar80 organ which I am satisfied with but I am considering a part exchange to a Technics ga1 or ga3. I have tried to get reviews and specifications on both these organs but without success. Can you please send me your opinion on all three organs as I am unsure of going ahead with an exchange. If you have any information on the Technics ga1 or ga3 could you please send it by email.

Comments:Oh forgot something I was going to say.....
I have had some luck ordering parts directly from panasonic for my Fa-1. I have found it quite easy to take apart and fix myself. If anyone else out there needs any help with this I may be able to explain some things for them. I have found that over time the switches behind the rubber front buttons and tempo dial have worn from repeated use. Also vibrations over time have caused several broken solder joints on various boards that I have been able to repair myself. I'm now attempting to order and replace the boards behind the instrument selection buttons that hold switches. If I cannot get these boards from panasonic I will be trying to locate another Fa-1 or Ga-1 or 3 to cannibalize the needed parts from and solder the switches in myself. Many of the hardware type items used in the same generation of organ will work on different models in that particular series. So if you are looking for switches, dials, speakers, or keys exact model number parts donors are not always necessary. Just take off the parts you need and solder them in to your organ if replacement boards are no longer available. Do keep in mind though that this only works some of the time...not always. And you do have to have a steady hand and some patience while soldering or you will end up causing more damage than repair.

Comments:Just came across your site while looking for panasonics parts order site. I have a Fa-1 That I bought new from a retailer I used to work for here in Arkansas. (Dell Rich. He used to be an artist for Lowry before leaving to open a store). For some reason he was never able to sell it and it stayed in stock for a long time before I bought it. Ive had it for 8 years. I started working there when I was 16. I'm 35 now and still fascinated with the quality of sound and overall performance of the machine. I had the opportunity to play just about every brand of electronic organ while working there. Wersi, lowry, technics, hammond, roland, and many others. Technics is by far the best built and most enjoyable by far!!! I wonder if panasonic realizes how many of us out there would still be buying new ones if they existed?

I'm totally new with the electone and will be starting classes at Yamaha. A friend was getting rid of a GN3 which I gladly accepted, not knowing how I'd fare with my classes. Problem is, I've no idea at all how it works. Will a Yamaha floppy work with a Tecnics model? Is it totally impossible to have classes at Yamaha whilst having a Tecnics? I'm hesitant to purchase a Yamaha electone cos the GN3 works perfectly well. Could you please advise me?

Bad thing is that it is 1000 miles away. My wife wants us to fly over there and pick it up in a u-haul but I was hoping to look up the specs. on it. It appears there is not a lot of information on the Internet about these organs.

So, I was wondering if you knew how much they weigh? Do they break down into seperate pieces for shipping? Would it be best to get a bonded mover? Would a u-haul be to fragile a move?

Thanks for your time

A GA3 weighs about 230 lbs (104kg) in total. I would recommend a good mover as the electronics are generally are quite sensitive to shocks...Vincent

Could be as simple as a blown fuse. You may want to get a electrician to have a look at it before deciding to do something more drastic. (Vincent)

It is the same generation as the EX range. You may want to try reading the manual of EX70. You can download from http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/220239/index.html#anker_220239 (Vincent)

Comments:Techinics organs have been my passion for over twenty years now but having noticed the declining value of organs I decided to sell my p and J a Gi00c whilst it was still worth a fair price. Recently I decided to purchase an EA5 or later mode, but I find owners are still over optimistic at the prices asked, however to cheer muself up I bought a new Yamaha, yes a Yamaha Tyros 2 keyboard and I find it a great instrument. But an organ has that special feeling about it so I shall still look for a Technics, maybe I shall get lucky. Best wishes to all. James Darlington.

I'VE GOT A $30,000 SX F100 ORGAN THAT HAS KEYS THAT DO NOT PLAY ANY LONGER, MY REPAIRMAN TOLD ME THE STRIPS WERE SPLIT AND NO LONGER MAKE PROPER CONTACT. WE JAVE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE AND CANNOT FIND ANY. CAN YOU HELP? THANK YOU,

LOLA MERCURIO

Vincent: I received a useful email from Dick Barker. I am reproducing his email for the benefit of all who are having difficulty sourcing for organ parts from your own Panasonic service centres. I was also informed that many service centre do not keep stocks anymore therefore this may be the only avenue left...Dick wrote... despite the fact that Technics organs are no longer manufactured (the
F100 was the last one), a limited supply of parts and accessories can
still be ordered online from the Panasonic National Parts Center in
Kent, Washington. Navigating the Panasonic website can be a little
confusing, but before I walk you through that, let's talk about the
parts you need.

The first thing you need to do is locate an organ repair man who has
a Factory Service Manual for an F100 (or an FA1). A good repairman
who knows Technics products should have one of these, because they
are the only source that lists the description and part number (and
exploded view) of all the various parts. And the only way you can
order from the Panasonic Parts Center is to cite the correct
description and part number.

So when your repair guy says you have "strips" that are split, what
strips is he talking about? I'm guessing they're probably the long
felt strips which run across the back edge of the keys. Or are they
short rubber strips with little round bumps on them? Or some other
kind of "strips?" If you can explain in more detail, perhaps my
Technics guy can help me figure out the description and number of the
part(s) you need. Once that has been determined, you can order them
online from Panasonic Parts at:

http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/Epartr/PartslistChoice.asp

You can call the listed 800 number; or you can enter the required
information as follows:

1. On the RH side of the page, enter the designation of your organ
(e.g."sxf100") in the "model number" (no spaces or hyphen)

2. Click "list parts by model number" (do not push enter)

3. On the next page, locate the line with the part number and
description of the part you require. To order it, check the box on
the RH side of the line.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "add parts to shopping
basket"

5. The next page should verify availability. Here you will see the
new part number if one has been assigned

6. After that you can fill in your personal data and complete your
order.

I've just purchased a Technics EN4. I have to say it's a beautiful organ - I'm so pleased with it.

I paid only £340, which seems incredibly cheap for what you get. If seen in a showroom you'd expect to see a sales ticket over £1000. I wonder how much they cost originally?

What a shame Technics stopped making these great instruments.

(Vincent - you may want to refer to my tip "How to Convert your Organ Performance into General MIDI file" found in my website. Use Method 1. You can then use a program such as Cakewalk or something similar to edit and print out the desired bars of that MIDI file. I presume you will only need to print out the upper manual notes)

Comments:My father has an operator's manual for his SX-F3. I wouldn't be able to get my hands on it till April when I will get back to Boston, but I would be glad to run a copy for Ben Corney . My father is selling his beloved SX-F3 because of moving into assisted living. He feels like he is losing an old friend. Ben I hope you get as much joy out of your organ as he did his.

Comments:I came across your site quite by accident today while surfing the net. I have a Technics GA-1 organ. I have been playing for 45 years. First classic 8 years piano, then moved to organ Yamaha B30R, C55, DK40, E5, and then move to Techics with SX-EX60 and now GA-1 for last 10 years. I find the GA-1 to be an amazing machine, and to be honest, I have recorded onto Stiffy but never managed to get it onto CD, but maybe i should try using your amazing tips. I am a computer programmer after all.
Also if you need a hand with anything please let me know.
Best Regards
Denzil

Comments:Vincent: My mom is looking at an sxf100 Techniques organ. It is approx. 10 yrs. old so I'm told. Could you tell me if this is a good organ for her to buy and how much it is worth. She has a nice keyboard but doesn't play it because she doesn't understand how to work it. She is hoping that this is a easier one to learn. I would appreciate any comments. Thanks, Bob

Dear Bob, sorry, I am unable to assist as the resale price ranges significantly from one country to another. Do remember that parts for an old organ are hard to come by and Panasonic do not stock them anymore__Vincent

Comments:Hi everybody & a Happy new year 2007
Well I am happy to say that I am now the proud owner of
Technics organ again. An SX-EA3 to be exact. But has anybody got any info how to set up the sounds like say on the demo. I can select what I want but am unable to transfer them to the appropreate manuals / pedals/etc.I am only a grade 3 player so this manual has me a little baffled, on my older E66 & E55 their used to be a Harmonic Coupler which gave a non pro like me a decent l/Hand on sustained chords with a good rythme and pedal chords pattern. Can I get this on the sx-ea3 Any help Jim

Comments:Hello again !

Since my last entry on here I now own 2 more Technics models.......a C700 portable complete with 2 SY-T70 Cabinets and an old KN 600 keyboard. They are both in very good condition for their age but I am really struggling with operating the KN 600. Does anybody have a copy of an owners manual at all please ?

Incidentally, there is a very new Technics User Group in need of some new members at:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/technics_owners_plus/

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you all.

Comments:I have a Technics G100 Organ with a Cherry Cabinet I got in 1998. It's beautiful! I took the lessons provided but didn't learn much. I do have the Owner's Manual. I've never had Organ Lessons. I play the accordion by ear so I know the chords on the accordion. I used to have a Thomas J Chordion Chord Organ (1958) similar to the accordion; I wish I could find one now. I don't know how to play my G100 very well. I also have a Keyboard Technics KN5000 (1998), but I have lost the power cord and haven't been able to replace it yet. I live at Columbia Kentucky. There are no Music Stores here. I enjoy reading your articles.

Comments:Hi Vincent:

Thanks for your website. I'm going to try some of the technical tips for Composer and Sequencer on my GA3.

I totally agree with your desire to own this model. Mine came from an insurance claim when my G7 was ruined by a lightning strike. I'd call it a lucky strike!

Are you still keeping up your site? Mail bag posts seem to be from last year.

Again, thanks for the info and good luck.

Cheers,

Murray

Comments:Hey guys!

Im googling for Spare Parts or Service Technician that can fix my SX U60 when i came accross your site. I'm glad to hear that there are still others like me who play these organs by Technics. Too bad, no more production and no product support. What happens when your units go busted? Mine died 10 years ago and still can't find anyone who can repair it. The last information i heard about my technician (Gi Gonzales) was that he already migrated to the US. I don't have any contact information about him. I really want it repaired or i may have to sell it on ebay "as-is where-is" coz I already have a YAMAHA EL90 to tinker around.

I will really appreciate anyone who could give me information that can lead to the resurrection of my U60.

Thank You.
