has anybody taken pictures of midgetville (it's real name is wedderburn) in the fairfax virginia area? i have a friend that used to live there, but it's been sold to developers so they're going to be tearing it down. hopefully someone in the area can document this awesome place before it's gone forever.

A rotting masterpiece in Ashburn has finally succumbed to the Caterpillar Dozer, as of 6/06.

I was lucky enough to get in a shoot it prior to it being razed. See the Asburn and Ashburn Revisited galleries on my site.

Since I can't get out to do any explorations I'll use my real name. Wow!! I had no idea there were other people who are fascinated by abandoned buildings. I'm so excited to find this. Thank you so much for the pictures. I felt like I was there with you and had a wonderful evening exploring places.
Thanks so much!!

Hey, been UE a lot in the 80s and 90s but moved on to paranormal research which also involves old buildings and underground structures and the like. Like to team up sometimes for local exploring. Thanks,

Nice page.. no photos of the beverly mill in fauqier? that used to be a cool place to hangout at nite before someone torched it in 1998, you can still see the burned out shell from I-66, Bull run mountain was another hotspot to hangout at nite... as well as fly down log mill road. (not safe at all...hindsight being 20/20 NO-ONE should ever do 130 MPH down a road that crests and dips like that.. IN THE HEART OF DEER COUNTRY NO LESS

Anyways I'm out. OHS class of '99

From the very beginning of looking up info on ghost hunting and exploring, I've found this site to be one of the nicest then, and still retains the simplicity that made me like it then. Great work.

Theres a large drain tunnel behind the Ford dealership in Winchester that goes for a couple hundred yards underground. I've been there about 15 years ago. Very creepy! Large enouth to drive a small car through. Take flashlights, a couple friends and a 6 pack and have fun!

Hello. I once read something about abandoned WWII artillery bunkers in the Shenadoah Valley on a website. I wrote the owner but got no reply. Does anyone know where these are? I've been searching for 2 years now and have turned up nothing.

i discovered 2 homes in McLean, Virginia (basically Tyson's Corner). they are off of Lewinsville Road near its intersection with route 123. coming from tysons, take 123 towards DC and then make a left on Lewinsville Road. go through the 3 stop lights, make your last right turn before going over the bridge that goes over the beltway. on that road (i dont remember the name, but it starts with an S) there are 2 houses past the church. the 2 homes are brick single story houses. they are next to each other. both are empty and will probably be torn down. one has a very cool basement, filled with candles that have been burned, the other has been looted of everything from the light fixtures to the hardwood floors. not a waisted trip if you're looking for some exploring inside the beltway.

hey, i love this website. you are my hero. seriously, i just realized that people chronicle their explorations online. I have also been to the farm house in the country, it was still standing as of july 04. a reccomendation for exploration would be saint elizabeth's mental hospital in DC. its in a ghetto neighborhood and a little part of it is still open, but most of it is delipadated and boarded up. i just hope you dont drive a nice car, because it might be gone when you go back to it.

Found the info on BRS most interesting, I worked there in the child care center for over 14 years, yes thanks to UVA I was exposed to asbestos. I know alot about the history of that department since I was a founding staff member of that department. Also FYI the Wright Building is reported to be haunted and housekeeping staff refused to clean it after hours.

And here I was all this time, thinking it was just ME!

Fantastic to find you all, and I routinely go where I shouldn't. One house RIGHT along route 540 towards Front Royal. Front door was open, and what looked like a NEW couch in the living room. Go the overwhelming sense of GET OUT OF HERE NOW, but didn't listen to intuition. Snapped the pic, and then RAN. For my delay, was bit by a snake. ALWAYS LISTEN!

Fantastic site, and if I find stuff, will certainly share.

Hey, my roommate and I are in Richmond, and are trying to find some kind of tunnel. If you want info on it later, and perhaps some juicy pics, you can email me or AIM me: UltraWill50.

We also do lots of rooftops and whatnot, just email or AIM for some pics and stories.

Later!

Hi, I live in Charlottesville. Interesting
site, glad to see your
exploration of the "BLUE

it around here. I used to
attend AA meetings on the
grounds, but not in the
oldest buildings.

I first discovered urban exploration websites when I worked in an old wing of a Toronto hospital and started researching its history... Now I am hooked! I love seeing photos of old buildings, and marvel at some of the exquisite architecture and design that is quickly being forgotten.
