| Comments: | I have just set up a Tropical freshwater aquarium and i
have finished adding my first selection of fish. I bought 8 guppies 4 from my Local pet shop and 4 from anopther dealer. The four from the second dealer seem to be getting ill? They looked fine and healthy in the shop and were fine for the first 24 hours BUT they have started to develop b black coloured bodies and one of them started to rest on the gravel. Its tail looked "rotted and eaten" and it quickly died. The other fish in the tank are 10 neon tetras, 6 glowlight tetras, 2 clown loach and two plattys. Other fish that have died are 1 other guppy, 1 neon tetra and 1 glowlight tetra bringing the total dead to 4. The water is at the right temperature and the filter is fine. Tha tank has been up and running for 1 week. Any help would be appreciated. I am also a Web Designer and will hopefully be developing my own site once i understand more about Tropical fish keeping. beautiful "yellow-fin jack" aulonocara jacobfreibergi male, a pale yellow aulonocara female, a male socoloffi, and a group of four juvenile auratus (one male and three females)- -not sure yet how they'll work out when they get older, but for now they aren't causing any problems. They often do not get along well with aulonocaras, but these ones school around with the male as if he were their mother! My next purchases will be an electric blue, a pair of johanni's, and a pleco. |

| What types of fish do you currently keep?: | 1)They started as all Black mollies - have reproduced to
include albinos, various chocolate & dalmation patterns & another interesting spotted pattern I thought I'd keep through a couple of generations to see what happened. There were two females to start & two Lyretail males: no lyretail characteristic has shown up in any offspring. 2) three Aeneas cory cats - I undertand they'd be happier with a school of 5 - 6. 3) one pl*co named Brother Lawrence after the medieval mystic monk who keep the monastery kitchen so clean. 4) two Brachygobius Xanthozona "Bumblebee Gobies" that a friend bought thinking he had a cleaner fish. They survived while I found out waht they were & added salt [3 Tbsp/5 gal] and got them some live food. They are so cute I kept them, but they restrict what I can keep in the tank. |
