 Maybe I don't understand your pain. So this is all I can offer you, and I have no idea if it will help.

I am like you, in that when things go wrong it's the worst thing in the world. I get in emotional ruts and depressions, and it's hard to get out of because I live in the moment and have trouble being objective. So in a way, I can see where you're coming from.

This is what helps me: when I get really down about something, I think "In ten years, is this going to matter in my life? Is this so significant that years from now it will still affect me?" If so, you really do have a problem on your hands. But if not...

Well, you decide. :) I hope you feel better.

 Somebody needs to quit being so petty and passive agressive and take stock in what's really important in a friendship - which is understanding. Caring means being there for someone when THEY need you, not when it's convenient for you. What most people think is compassion is a curiously disguised attempt to glorify their egos. If you actually understood his journal instead of simply perusing it for tidbits about yourself, you'd realize that the last thing he needs in his life right now is a melodramatic self-centered arrogant pseudo-friend.  I really like it when my friends don't have the nerve to tell me something to my face. It gets even better when they post their true feelings in an online diary which the named scholarship offender reads regularly. So thanks Chris - I'm glad you do these little things to make our friendship better. By the way...I got a $25,000 scholarship at Wash U and a full ride at Webster and U of IL. I didn't know if I had shared my good news with you yet and I knew you, of all people, would be appreciative of the hard work I have done to earn these awards.
