opening day and have been hooked ever since. My success ratio hasn't been as good as yours, but the experience alone is what I thrive on. We now have a steady group of four and have put in for a group draw for the first time this season. We can't afford guides or private land, but enjoy the bonding the outdoors can provide. I'm from Minnesota and look foreward as you do to hunting in the great state of Colorado. It has been the most hunter friendly state in the lower 48. All that will change next year. I will have to take a hard look at the cost to hunt, when that time comes. Although I will Savor this year. I have many fond memories of hunting CO. I meet 3 friends from Reno, Nevada there yearly. We have had some success, but never seem to let it bother us if we don't score. There is more to hunting then bagging an animal. Most hunters don't understand that. As I age I find that the hunt is more important then the kill. I find myself truly one with nature when hunting. Beleive it or not I hunted 22 years in Minnesota and never tagged a deer, but I never gave up and on the 23rd year I bagged my first buck. I have hunted Wyoming with good luck and also Montana with the same luck. I still go to Montana, without a buck licsense, because I have met one of the most wonderful person there. A rancher named Jerry Teigen. He passed away this July and His son has invited me to hunt on the ranch again this year. My son and I,plus my buddy and his 3 boys will make the trek, as we do all our hunting together. Theres nothing like having you son with you. I'm from Minnesota (Blaine). Born and Raised in North Dakota (Rugby). I have been hunting in Colorado for the past 6-7 years. I personally Have not yet bagged an Elk(and I'm not dissappointed). I enjoy Colorado so much. I have went there a couple of times just to film hunts of my buddies from Reno, Nevada. My one buddy has scored 3 times on Elk. One 4X4, One 5X4, and One 5X5. We hunt the Flat Tops out of Marvine Campground. We rent horses from Sombrero Ranch. We are meeting there again this year for the last Season Nov. 11-17. Were hoping for a few feet of snow to bring the big boys down to us. I have hunted the first rifle season, but I thought I was hunting the Minnesota woods. I couldn't beleive all of the hunters. Every where you looked there was somebody. We like the late season because we pretty much have the place to ourselves. I also take enough time to stop at Steamboat and Ski for a day. The last 4 years have been a bust. No Snow and no Elk. I'm a Life Member of North American Hunting Club and a Member Of the NRA. Enough already. I hope I haven't bored you to much.
