Vanessa D.,

I wonder why you don't seem to realize that your hatred and contempt for Americans is precisely the mirror image of the way in which the neoconservatives whom you SHOULD be blaming for U.S. foreign policy view the world outside the United States.

It is almost always a mistake to blame an entire group -- whether it be a nation, a gender, a religion or any other such demographic division -- for the actions of a few of its members. It is symptomatic of prejudice, which is an offense against both reason and morality. And it is no less odious in anti-American than in American bigots.

Thanks for getting in touch. Wednesday should work well; perhaps around 7:00. We'll call, or you can, to work out specifics before then. I have sent an e-mail to this effect, but your address failed the first two times I tried sending it, so I am reiterating the contents here.

Also: To prevent spammers getting your e-mail address, I have deleted it from your entry below.

Look forward to seeing you soon and hearing about Finland.

Hello! I´m so sorry for not answering your call as I have been extremely busy. At the moment I am on the other side of the planet in Imatra, Finland. Almost all my relatives on my fathers side live in this country, though he was born in the United States. (I am 50% Fin.) I am amazed with all the information you have provided on Ladybug´s site and hyper-links! I feel like I know so much about your family though we have only met twice. Next week, we will be back in California and I have decided not to return to work at Graffix Pleasure. Taco Bell will pay my bills and I need to enjoy some of the remaining summer. I have your number, maybe we could meet next Wednesday(a day I would normally be working). See you later!

Alex/blackhole:

Please note that I was not informed of your entry until today, else I would have rebutted it more promptly.

Apparently you have missed some crucial facts in your analysis. Among others:

(1) I did not draft the Articles of Impeachment: As I have made, I think, quite clear, they originated with former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, whom you should address with any questions as to their content -- and who should by virtue of his position and experience be regarded, until proven otherwise, as cognizant of the legal requirements for an impeachment resolution.

(2) Although not formally a part of our constitution, the UN charter does have weight in U.S. law, as it does in the legal systems of all member nations, which cede a portion of their sovereignty to the international body in the interest of maintaining order and peace. Therefore, violating that charter can indeed be considered a rationale for impeachment.
As for the courts finding evidence of violation of the constitution, it is rather difficult for them to do so when no case has been placed before them to date. It is, however, the prerogative of *Congress* to determine the question of impeachment; and if it does not do so, this probably reflects the legislature's partisan composition more than the merits of the question.

(3) I'm not quite sure how you inferred that I nurture a personal animus for George W. Bush. I am not impressed by the man's apparent intellectual vacuity, but my opposition to him is not based on that personal impression; rather, it is driven by the ideology and policies of his administration, which have done immense harm, probably irrevocably, to both American institutions and international relations, while profoundly damaging the economic interests and environmental circumstances of our society's most vulnerable members, and ruthlessly suppressing and decimating the still more vulnerable people of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Please do try to understand this distinction, for it is a vital one.

(4) Without attempting to delineate the parameters justifying impeachment, I would like to note that ideologues appear to broaden and narrow those parameters to serve their own ideologies and their standard-bearers, as evidenced by the Republican attempt to impeach former President Bill Clinton for what was, however distasteful, more a violation of sexual mores than of law.
In Clinton's case, a stained dress and a few ill-considered attempts at denial and evasion precipitated an impeachment resolution that nearly removed a sitting president from office on grounds that could not be reasonably extrapolated as suggesting any substantial harm to America or any other nation. I am, as many of my readers know, no fan of Clinton: He lacked all resolve, and seemed more concerned with personal popularity than with actually achieving anything of moment. But none of his offenses rose to anything approaching impeachable culpability, and years and many millions of dollars were wasted in the attempt to punish him for his real offense: having unseated Bush Sr. and thereby created a lacuna athwart the Republican dynasty; in short, he was elected, as the Repubs perceived it, "out of turn."
Meanwhile, George W. Bush (the Leader in his "cuirassier boots," as Hitler phrased it) has obliterated tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans who had done us no harm, while visiting untold misery upon millions more. He has rapaciously transferred wealth from the vast majority of lower- and middle-class Americans to his cadre of plutocratic campaign contributors, while leaving millions of citizens without health insurance and at the mercy of corporations whose sole object is to profit by the misfortunes of others. He has ignored and stonewalled initiatives against global climate intensification (AKA global warming) even as Antarctic ice shelves have begun to slide into the sea and over 80 percent of the world's glaciers have melted, and this at a time when the Indian Ocean tsunami has made utterly clear the dangers that will be posed by rising sea levels in conjunction with lethal poverty inculcated in large part by the same business interests that so overtly determine America's policy under Bush's watch. I cannot begin to catalog all of his administration's crimes here, but this should suffice to illustrate my point.
And yet, somehow, in your mind, having sex with an aide is an impeachable offense, while despoiling the environment, poisoning our air and water in the name of unfettered commerce, depriving poor Americans of health services and mere subsistence and exterminating tens of thousands abroad are not.

One is left to wonder what sorts of moral standards actually motivate you.

"Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law"-what you say on you site

I didn't know that the US president can be impeached because he defied the UN Charter?! His defience of the US constitution is up to the courts (judicial branch) and so far, the courts have found no such evidence.

People, like you, who hate a person so deeply have serious issues. While I don't agree with GWB on MANY issues, I don't want to impeach him because he defied the UN Charter!! That is the top 1 reason you give for impeachment! This kills any credability this site, and you, have.

The rule of law, is NOT mentioned anywhere in the constitution, in fact the idea was "created" by Albert Venn in 1895. And this is also not an impeachable offence.

You should use your brain, before making and writing statements like this. Otherwise, as has happened, your credability is completely gone.

"veteran":

I am also a veteran, having served well and honorably in the Navy from 1984-1992, and this site reflects my outrage at the way our nation's ideals have been flushed down the proverbial toilet by George II and his adherents.

And by the way, in case you've somehow missed all the news since Dick Cheney blamed Iraq for 9/11: There is no connection. Iraq had nothing whatever to do with that vile act. Iraq posed no imminent threat to the United States or any of its regional neighbors. In fact, it posed no threat at all.

You may want to consider the FACTS before you make irresponsible comments. And you may, if you are at all intellectually honest, want to inform yourself as to why we did invade. The answer may not please you, but it will at least be the truth--in absolute contrast to anything promulgated by this apparently Josef Goebbels-inspired White House propaganda machine.
