| Comments: | Bob,
I bought the small custom raindrop damascus utility knife at the SEWE in Charleston last week. It was just one of those knives I just had to have. I have shown it to several people, one of whom is a very serious collector of knives. The collector was awed at the craftsmanship. Thanks for your consideration. I look forward to seeing you next year. Grif Helwig |

| Comments: | Received two more examples of Bob's work today; a boot knife and an oyster knife. That makes 4 for me so far. I can't say I'm surprised at how good these new ones look because of my previous experiences. I can say, however, that I haven't found any better examples of such work than Bob's. Thank you again for a couple of magnificent pieces. |

| Comments: | Received two more samples of Bob's handiwork. A boot knife and another oyster knife. Both are magnificent and, while I can't say they exceeded my expectations since I already own a couple of his creations, I'm still amazed at the workmanship that goes into them.
Thanks again Bob for a great product. |

| Comments: | Hi, I was fascinated with your stories of Jim Nolen. When I returned from the Navy in 1972 I saw a knife made by the Nolen's that a friend of mine had. I contacted Jim Nolen in Corpus Christi, I lived in Alice, Texas and Corpus was only 40 miles away. I went to Jim's home and fell in love with his hobby. He graciously taught me how to make knives. My first project was his classic guthook. I got away from making knives as life got in the way. I now have the time and have once again taken up the very satisfying feeling of making hand made custom high quality knives. The passion is back, and as you truly miss my mentor and good friend Jim Nolen - truly a MasterCraftsman. Every knife I make reminds me of him. I am sorry that you never got to meet him, he was one of those exceptional people with a huge heart that would do anything for you. John Fleming, Houston, Tx. |

| Comments: | Sometimes in life one just runs across a really great thing without even trying. When I first contacted Bob about a Bowie knife, I told him I wanted function with style. An heirloom I could pass down but still use on the ranch. When my Bowie arrived the comments seemed to run to "surely you're not going to use that in the field, it's too pretty".
Having used it on everything from cutting string off round bales of hay to fishing on the river, I can honestly say I will never buy another knife from a store again. Bob you were great to talk with on the phone and I can't wait to talk with you again about my next knife. Thank you! |

I've cleaned trout and salmon in the Rockies and quial and pheasant on the plains with my knife and it's as beautiful as the day it arrived. Bob, you are truly a master of the art and I still think of the kind conversations we shared over the design of my masterpiece.
If you are reading this and still on the fence about a Bob Cumming knife, just buy it! It's going to be the best purchase you've made, ever. I salute you Bob and your handiwork. Regards, Greg |

| Comments: | I have known Bob for several years, first being attracted to the beautiful knives of his that were being offered on another web site. I bought one of these- a large curved knife with a horn handle meticulously constructed with a horned owl scrimmed on an insert of the handle. Also it came with a very authentic Indian style sheath. I am both a collector and user and everyone that I have shown that knife to has been amazed! Since then he has made several more for me including a beautiful giraffe handled small hunter that was specially made to fit my hand, a drop point that has an especially fancy handle and a piece of ivory in the handle end (for me to scrim), and a surprise small oosic handled fancy hunter/camp knife that my dept. gave me for retirement. It was of course the best retirement present that I received! When you work one on one with Bob, he will show you a number of preliminary drawings and photographs to be certain everything is right. The other really great point is that his sheaths are the best, each custom fitted to the knife and some made with decoration and a new design that will allow them to be worn in a horizontal position. If you ask him how he makes them, he will write you a complete dissertation on the subject. My latest is a small oosic handled damascus blade that is almost too nice to be a user but has become my daily carry-especially when walking to the bottom of the hill in our wilderness area! It has a new design ring offset in the handle for tying in a lanyard. Of all the knife makers I have seen, Bob is the best-combining beauty with usage. |

| Comments: | Bob, I want to thank you again for the wonderful oyster knife and prompt delivery to a birthday boy, my father in law. He was truly de-e-e-e-lighted with his oyster knife and hand made sheath. He told me the knife looked so nice that he hated to put into a dirty oyster. When oyster season rolls around in the gulf, I can assure you it will be put to good use. Again, thank you so much for being part of a memorable birthday. Let's see,my birthday is in September.Hmmmmm |

| Comments: | I'm a cajun boy from Louisiana, taken on feild trips to the oldest oak tree on earth, the Evangeline, where across the street is the old knife smith shop that built Jim Bowie's knife was made, (the foot pedaled griding stone is still there and museum articles). Hunting and fishing is what my father, garndfather and uncles raised me with. My first knife was the greatest gift, a right of passage. Later as a Second Division Marine Recon, I appreciated the much coveted fighting knives of luck as Randall built. I am proud to have met Bob and have at least one of his knives in my collection now. It's a work of art, unique, scales of wart hog tooth, small but ample skinning knife. I have designed on CAD fighting knives I had another knife make make for me, and hope that Bob would build a unique custom sub hilt fighter for me some day. No knife he makes is the exact same, so every one will be a legacy. We should all treasure these great craftsmen as Bob. Knife makers are top drawer men in my book. Strong work ethic, eye to detail, pride and integrity in craftsmanship. I reccomend his knives strongly. He even has influenced my desire to move to Albuquerque, after we have have lived in similar paths and geographical locations, to choose it as his home. Good man. Pleasure to talk to, and I feel lucky to have met him.

| Comments: | So, the first 4 dozen Apalachicola oysters of the season are now shucked and cooking away in a big pot of stew as I type this.
The verdict on the Cumming oyster knives: Perfect! From the shape of the blade to the fit of the grip. Don't know how they could be better. We'll finish the bushel tomorrow with some raw and some steamed. My favorite time of the year. Thanks again for a great tool. |

| Comments: | Just received my two oyster knives. Wow, what beauties! I almost hate to put them into real use, but tools are meant to be used. OK, maybe I'll hold one back.
It's oyster season on the Gulf Coast and I'm itching to try them out, just as soon as we're over the red tide, hurricane damage, pollution, and other things that are stopping the local harvest so far this year. Anyway, I'm very happy with my Cumming oyster knives. Even if I never get to use them. |

It will be a superior tool for me, and for my boys and theirs in the future. It is a work of art that provides a real improvement in the available oyster knives. Thank you for your design and workmanship in a basic tool, which will last for generations.

| Comments: | Hi Bob,
Congratulations on such an informative web site, it's a great way to drop in and see what the latest new knife looks like. Like so many other owners of a Cumming Knife I can only echo the praise of such high quality craftsmanship. For sportsmen and collectors alike I couldn't recommend a more personalized gift. The uniqueness of a one of a kind not only makes the gift outstanding but makes the owner feel rather special too. I've known Bob since 1976 before he embarked on this splendid adventure and new career. I've had my knife since 1978-79 making it one of his earliest creations and it's as good as the day I got it. As a leather carver a sharp knife is a must and it serves me well evry time I use it. Many thanks for sending photos of some of your more outstanding creations, I wish you continued success in the years to come. God Bless Al Graham, Morrisburg Ontario,Canada |
