BLACK SKULL CORPS OF FIFE & DRUMS CONCERTS. To end of our 25th anniversary year, B.S.G. are holding concerts in Scotland and Ulster with special guest appearance from the Ulster-Scots folk orchestra, the concert is based on a cultural heritage evening of traditional Ulster Scots folk music and traditional fife & drum music and the not so traditional, the concert-show will run for approx over two hours, with a 25min interval during the show. The Ulster Scots folk orchestra will take to the stage first to perform their wildly acclaimed show of Ulster Scots folk music, and then B.S.G. will take to the stage to perform their marching through the year’s program which will last for just over 1.hour.)The concert-show we are attempting to put on, with lighting and sound technicians, professional DVD and CD recording people etc, has never been attempted by our kind of band as far as we are aware, this is a new direction and major step forward for the B.S.G. and one which we are all looking forward to participating in. As for the bands part in the concert/show, we will be performing some intricate fife & drum sets, traditional loyal air sets, jigs, reels, military & some military march sets, along with flute solos and a host of other musical delights, which we hope will be enjoyed by all. we will be incorporating a lot of musical instruments not normally associated with marching flute bands to try and bring a different flavour of sounds not normally associated or performed by street bands like our self’s, The band will be using three different sets of marching snare drums in the concert, i.e. long rope drums, high tension drums, standard military 97s drums as well tenor drums timpani drums bohdran drums ect. We have tried to be as varied as possible for the concert and hope we can give a polished performance and a good account of what our culture and traditions are all about. The concerts in Glasgow will be held on Friday the 8th & Saturday the 9th of September, doors will open at 7pm. The concert will begin at 8.pm, there will be a licensed bar in the lounge hall on both evening. Bar will open from 7.pm and closed ten mins before the show begins at 7.50pm. the bar will reopen during the interval approx 9.pm for 25 mins, before the second part of the show begins, after the concert is finish the bar will reopen for those who wish to stay for a refreshment (NO DRINKS OF ANY KIND PERMITED IN THE MAIN HALL DURING THE CONCERT) TICKETS FOR THE GLASGOW CONCERTS DATES ARE “NOW ON SALE” and can be purchased on line through pay pal or you can contact this telephone number to purchase tickets 07969 282 406 TICKETS FOR THE LISBURN CONCERT DATE “ ARE NOW ON SALE” And be purchased form the lagan valley Island centre Lisburn Tel; 028 9250 9292 When booking from Island centre please ask for heritage evening concert tickets. | Comments: | My name is Ivor Harrison I am the band captain for Tyneside True Defenders in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. We have had a great deal of support from your band in the past, however I am just sending a message to all bands asking them to review our site www.freewebs.com/fife and the new photos and video clips of the band. All I am trying to do is raise awareness for the band and to show all who have supported and helped us the progress we have made. In addition to this I would also like to thank you all, as I hope you will agree we are getting better and better, a lot of which is down to the support and encouragement you have shown to our members. I am actually from Lisburn and I am a member of Lambeg Orange and Blue, I live in England with my wife but I fly home every other weekend to parade with Lambeg. Obviously Tyneside True Defenders is made up of English men and women, most of which had never lifted a flute or drum, until they joined the band. Loyalisim is not a big thing in England as I am sure you are already aware, however it is our aim to increase our culture. It is hard for the band as parades are few and far between due to geographical and financial reason so, until I can get the band over to Ulster for the 12th or Scotland I am continually trying to reassure the members that they are in for a treat when this happens. This is where you can help by leaving messages on the guest book of our site and leaving honest opinions of the band. If you think we are crap, bearing in mind our circumstances then tell the members where you think we are going wrong and we can change this, this will help the members. Again thank you for all the support and help you have already shown the band and I only hope that some day soon we can repay the same to you and your band. All the best for the future.

Just think how well you will perform the rest of the season if you sound that well on your first outing. All the best my friends... |
