Comments:HI As always I so enjoy coming to your web site, It is ful of so much information. I wa wondering if anyone has thought of the breeding of Canyon of Quetude with South River Kohla. I mean that looks like a mastch made in heaven.with both of their bloodlines, Not only that but the foals would be much bigger.and a bigger neck and throat latch. As well as the meduim back a stronger rear quarter and the long straight legs and the great Temperment of the King blooline and the great hooves. It just seems that the lamberts have gotten smaller. With South river Kohla being so big and muscular it just seems that that will be passed onto her Foals and then breed that foal into another lambert Stallion or Mare. Just a thought ! I DON"T KNOW MUCH ABOUT ANY OF THIS.But just seeing what Ms Bryant and mr Brunk did for the Morgan horse. It seems that alot of breeders now a days are either breeding for the Libbit or lambert or Western and then you have the ones that are breeding for dressage and cross breeding into other breeds. Just so much different ways. whereas I feel the breed itself I don't know its as thought No one cares about the Morgan Breed Itself and how to mkae it better. Unless of course so fall into one of the aformentioned specality's. Once again I want to thank you for such an informative web site.

Comments: Hi...Enjoyed your web sight. I'm a new member of "Foundation Morgan Horse" org. and was looking at possible stallions to breed to my 9yr. old mare that I bred, keeping her lines as pure as I could, and after finding this org. I realized that she is a Foundation Morgan!! So glad that I was so picky as to the stallion I chose for her dam. Not easy to do in NY state. Her father is a full Lippitt and her mother was a combination of Gov., West. Working and Lippitt. I would love to cross her back to the DeJarnette, Archie O, and Jubilee King lines that her dam carried. Also glad to know that there are others that have this same goal at heart. -Cheryl

Comments:Hi, Reading the Breeder's Forum, I saw your name, and then suddenly saw Tacinca mentioned. Oh my!! Sid Spencer was my aunt and I bought Tacinca from her at one point. I had to sell her when I started my family but got her back years later. I was so happy to see that she has a living descendant. Tacinca was a wonderful mare! I looked at your website. You have carefully and with wisdom put together your breeding program. You have saved some wonderful old lines. And you have Tacinca's daughter for sale? Is this current or has she sold? Is she still producing? If you still have her, what price do you ask? My husband and I have raised Morgans for over 30 years. At times we had little going on as we were raising our 4 children on one income. We moved from Arroyo Grande in 1992, taking 2 Bandido daughters with us. They had such wonderful dispositions, plus a lot of cutting ability. Our move was hard and we had to sell them. Eitan Beth-Halachmy bought them, as he had competed against their dam years before, in cutting, and could never beat Funquest Patchita. I was happy that they went to a good home. At present we are in Oregon, with 11 Morgans. We have Triple S and Bessia bloodlines, along with Tio Lalo and Funquest. The old California lines are so good and were diluted a lot with the back east imports in the 70s and on. I was so glad to hear that you have old Jubilee King bloodlines, from Easter Vermont, etc. If you still have Tacinca's daughter and she is healthy, I would be very interested in her. Tacinca was a huge part of my childhood. When she was a foal, she kicked me; most likely my fault. My mom rode her the summer she was 5 and would take my mom's straw hat off to eat. Mom would laugh but my aunt would get on Tacinca for it. Tacinca was always anticipating and anxious as Sid rode her for many years and was a strict disciplinarian. Her dam, Wenonah, was the Morgan my brother learned to ride on and I showed when I was 7. She was a kind and quiet mare. Well, I'm going to look at your website again. Email back, please. I'd love to hear from you! Pam

Comments:Hi, I have two horses by Canyon of Quietude. I bred our mare, Mantic Madina, to Canyon twice while he was with Natalie Goode. We got two lovely foals. One is the image of Canyon, but with a tall hind left stocking. I guess Eve Oakley referred to it as the "lucky left". Neither Canyon nor my mare had white on the left hind. My other offspring is black with a white star. So interesting to know Canyon is back in California. I am glad to see him! We took many pictures of Canyon when he was with Natalie. I believe the new photo you show of him at two years old is one my husband took. We did professional horse photography back in those days! Good luck with your program and give our best to Canyon! Sincerely, Doris Pacheco

Comments:Wendy, I am so thrilled to read your story and that you are working so hard to protect this old time horse breed. I have absolutely been in love with them since I rode one helping my grandfather heard cattle as a little girl, but unable to do anything until now. I am in the process of building my home and breeding barn and busy searching the web for my first, hopefully pregnant mare purchase to get started. Your website provided so much information, i am thrilled. Thank you for what you do and I can hardly wait to get started on my own quest and life experience with these horses. I am busy waiting until next spring, and I can hardly stand it! At the age of 43 I think I need to get started or it will flash in front of my eyes before I know it. AGain thanks for what you do and the information you provide.

Comments:Well...if your first two foals are any indication of how beautiful the rest of 2006 Old Growth Oak Morgan's foals are going to look...wowza! In fact, I just sat down and did a thumbnail sketch from Tribute's pics. It's called, Like Father - Like Son. Under the great shade of the mighty oak tree, Canyon is rearing up with his 'Fabio' hair flying everywhere - having a frisky moment and looking very regal. He hasn't noticed young Tribute behind him. The son - not strong enough to stand on only two legs yet...looks at his father with pure admiration and makes the effort to mimick him. He manages to paw the air with one hoof, while sticking his nose in the air convincingly. Yes! He did it! And without falling! LOL Love ya. P.s. Of course you got the Wendy symbolism, right? smooch!

Comments:Greetings, I found your website by searching Shawalla Morgans. You have leased a Shawalla mare! My beloved mare, Shar, died last fall at the age of 33. I bought her when she was four and I was 15. She was a registered Mor-ab, named simply Shawalla. Her dam was Shawalla Waleeta and her sire was an Arab named Lieng Doy. Shar looked completely Morgan. I thought she was unique, but when I look at your site I see bits of her all over! She was an "old style" Morgan! She was an amazing horse and companion; smart, loving and very special. She was my 4H horse, showjumper, trail horse and best friend. Unfortunately she was never bred. I miss her. I didn't think a horse could be found that would come even close to filling her shoes. But reading your site gives me hope. Thank-you. Jennifer Stafford

Comments:Dear Wendy, I found your web site quite by accident and a delightful accident it was!! I have lived in New England all my life and have been fortunate enough to have visited or lived in the places trod by Justin Morgan, both horse and man..:-) However, reading your story has given me a new prospective on and appreciation for the Morgan breed. It has always been a dream of mine to once again own an American Saddlebred horse and bred her to a Morgan. To me this combination would have been perfect...elegance and endurance, beauty and stamina. However after researching the Morgan and its cross breeding and then reading your story, I have come to find the love, humor, kindness and sensitivity exhibited by the Morgan is perfect all by itself. It will be a few years yet until I can once more own my own horse but when the time comes I will be searching for one of the old Vermont Morgan. I have been fortunate enough to visit the UVM Morgan Horse Farm and see their wonderful bloodstock. How can so much beauty and heart be packed into such a little package? So when the time comes to find my Morgan, I will be thinking of you and keeping my eye out for my own "red fire engine". Wishing continuing success and joy, Jan Oles Worcester, MA

Wow - I am so impressed! I love the story of how you got into Morgans, and am so intrigues by Bandido. REally the horse of every girl's (and woman's) fantasies! Oh, and the Morgan blog you started - very cool. I agree about the scarcity of those super old-style, typey, obviously-Morgan, Morgans in general! It's great that folks like you are keeping those lines alive. Again, congrats on leasing "Shawalla" from Lennie. Even in her older years, you can see how solid, round, deep and TYPEY she is! I love a curvey/arched neck on a mare --it's hard to find. Anyways, just thought I'd compliment you on the site and the stories and all you write on your horses. Really enjoyed it. I really respect how much you've done and are doing within the Morgan community. - Elaine
