Although they liked my story and said it should be published, they wanted first person "I was there" stories from the veterans themselves. But who will tell the stories of those Korean War veterans who never came home? So I have decided to publish it myself, but need your help in securing the funds to get it done. Check out the URL above for more information about Unforgotten Hero - Book Project. Let's not forget those that never came home.

But, hey Bob, that song! "He aint got no Yo-Yo" is what we used to call it, but we all loved it! I never thought I'd hear it again, & it brought tears to my eyes.

Great site for veterans and their families. It really shows what these brave men went through during this war. My dad, SFC Edward Stuczko, was tank commander with 72nd Tank Battalion in 1950 and 1952. I have many photos of camp life during that time, many with buddies and armor equipment. Most from Chorwon-Iron Triangle area 1952. If anyone would like to view these I would be happy to send them on. Keep up the great work and God bless our veterans and servicemen.

Comments:I was at Camp Stoneman, CA when the Korean War broke out. I went To Okinawa. I was assigned to the 29th. Inf. Regt. Combat Team. I got off the ship and went to the 2nd Battalion. The next day the 1st and 3rd Battalion went to Korea and were attached to the 24th Div. The 2nd Battalion stayed on Okinawa and trained for six weeks then went to Korea. We never did re-unite with the 1st and 3rd Battalion and I was a replacement with A Company, 19th Inf. Regt. 24th Div. I was with A Company to about 15 Miles from the Yalu when the Chinese hit. We did a withdrawal and in the course we had to cross several rivers. My feet got wet and I ended up with raw meat for feet. I went to the Aid Station and before you knew it I was on a truck, a train, a plane . I was in a hospital in Pusan where I celebrated my 18th birthday. Then flew to Japan and was in the hospital at Tachikawa Air Base. I stayed there till New Years Eve 1950. WEnt to Camp King Repple DEpot where I was assigned to A Company 34th Inf Regt, 24th Div at Camp Zama, Japan. The 34th was being re-built after being slaughtered in the early part of the war. At some point in early 1951, Pres. Truman desegragated the armed forces. There was an all black Regiment in the 25th Div. They were pulled out of the 25th Div. The 34th Inf Regt at Camp Zama was renamed the 14th inf. 25th Div. We got to Korea in August of 1951. Because I had been in Korea for 3 months in 1950 and 9 months in Japan, by November of 1951 I had enough points to rotate to the States and we arriverd at Seattle, WA on Dec. 7th. After my 30 day furlough I was assign to an Eng. outfit at Camp McCoy, WI. When I joined the Army I joined for 2 years active duty and 5 years inactive so I should have been released to the Reserves in Feb. 1952 but everyones tour was extended "at the convience of the Government" so finally on June 14th I was released to the Reserves and I went home to Michigan.
Little did I know that as a 17 year old boy just off the farm, that I would have the privlidge and honor of fighting for my Country as an Infantryman. I am almost 76 years old now and find myself thinking more and more about my time there and the men I served with.

Served with First Lieutenant Neller, I think his first name was James? Often wondered what happened to him.
