| Comments: I went to the Whaley House the same year The King Tut Exhibit was in LA. I believe that was 1970. I was taking some tourist shots. I & no one with me saw or heard anything. I had the film deveopled. I tossed them on the coffee table. A friend pick up the pictures & then asked who the little girl was with no head? Now a cold chill went up & down me & my friend Pete. We never mentioned Whaley to anyone. It was a bust, but we did remember the little girl who lost her head. The picture is of a little girl ghost, with no head, sitting on a rocking chair. It is not real obvious. So why would our friend say that? |

| Comments: We went to the Whaley house on a field trip with my daughters class. I saw a curtain in one of the upstairs bedrooms move and I told the tour guide and he said he hears that often, I asked if there was an open window, fan or air duct near by and he said no. I also took pictures of the curtain and you can see a diaganal mist or orb the curtain is obviously lighter where it passes on the curtain. Also, at the cemetary in old town, I felt my chest and throat tight and heavy like it was hard to breathe. Very bizarre. |

| Comments: I visited the Whaley House in Aug, 2007. The first visit with my son-in-law I forgot the camera but enjoyed visiting the house anyway. Needing some photos, I went back the next night by myself, camera in hand, and took some photos. I ran out of film after several photos unfortunately but the photos I have are great. In several of them they are some things I believe to be the ghosts who were visiting me while I was taking the tour again. While upstairs, looking into the bedroom, I felt a cool, cold breeze on my legs. Upon developing the photos, this same bedroom that I felt the breeze there is a mist hanging over the bed. In another photo there is a bright orb in the living room up in the corner. I believe they are the Whaley's as why would they want to leave such a great house. I chose to believe. If I ever get to San Diego again I would be sure to visit again and took many more photos. I hope whoever is reading this gets a chance to visit the Whaley House. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did. |

Me and my, now ex-wife had already been to the house in the a day a couple of times,(case anyone is interested we signed the incidents and when we were there in the actual guest book at the whaley house..and was one of the first active sighting that had happened in many months, per one of the workers..see the have a guest book and an incident book..My ex-wife and I are in both...oh and Isaac clark was there the morning before but no in the books...). So anyway back to the story. We went out for dinner that night and had a late cup of coffee...San Diego is gourgeous at night....and we decided to go to the whaley house...On the way I was informed by my ex-wife that she believed she has been able to see spirits and feel them....being her grandmother was a Medicine woman in mexico for the church which has been passed on from generations down...I would spell honaduras but don't think that is the correct spelling....so story again...Being that I have always been attracted to spirits and wierd lights, big foot....(lived only 13 miles from Quinault rainforest as a kid and ummm decay rd was about 5 miles away....lovely Grays Harbor and Ley Lines)....etc. I decided to challenge her to walk up the steps on the back...yes it was 1:30 am and we were trespassing....she said she kept seeing shadow movement and was getting a bad feeling as we walked through the yard.....one step , two steps...my ex-wife is in tears and can barely walk anymore...I told her to get over it I am empathic but I still brushed it off....we get two the top of the steps, the three of us Rosie Me and Isaac...nothing much per say... some creepy dolls creeky floors and a fake old smell of cigars....fake as in intentionally done for a hoax....Rosie said, "Hey look at that". Isaac and I look over at the hallway and down to what is the room across from the back stairs.....What look like a strange fuzz in front of the doll on the right..It's about the size of a small toddler....and with the plastic glass it was hard to tell....but as the fuzz became more partical like is when, even though i denied it a little longer, my gut said something was not right.....now the fuzzy partical energy focus(Ley lines help with this house two) was around this doll whos head slowly shook as if saying "no no"and we had enough....I say " lets go Rosie" and looked back at her then down the hallway...and if you have any empathy when you encounter a spectar as strong as the Man in the Gray Coat,....It surrounds you with a vibrating almost intense humming that sensation that you feel and hear..at first I couldn't even move...then I realized that it wasn't the spirit that was effecting me. It was my own protected lay ers that were intensified by the location of the ley lines where this house sits combined with the acts of some poeple and things before even the whaleysgot started there.......Hense the reason why the cover up on the documentions, letters, diaries, and so on. eventually we gathered enough gull to leave as if chased off by an impeding but not a physical threat....maybe a spiritual bruise is what you maybe left with Eventually ppl will get burnt by fire...By the Way Name is Matthew F. The whaley house was the grand finale of the trip. | Comments: I was born and raised in San Diego in 1965 as a child, one of my favorite places was the "House" as I refered to it. I visited several times as a child and do believe I witnessed the apparition of Mrs. Whaley uptairs in the bedroom. I have also smelled the cigar smoke and on one occation I thought I heard the piano playing. I visited the house back in 1986 on vacation, I was recieved very warmingly by Ms. Reading. To whom I have understood now has passed herself..GRHS. Looking to move back to San Diego without and prospects, Ms. Reading offered me the opportunity to be the groundskeeper for the property. She was a marvelous lady, and I kick myself to this day for not accepting her proposal for employment. I don't often get back "home", but when I do, I always make my agenda to visit the "House" and say hello. And no...on my 1986 visit I did not see or smell or hear anything. Although my memory is like a faded dream from visits from 1968-1974, I know what I recalled really did in fact happen. Oddly enough, my mother when she first arrived in San Diego in 1959 made friends with a writer at the time. His name ...Mr Hans Holtzer...regarded highly in the paranormal field at that time. It was funny to her the story my mother told me when she had dinner one night with Hans in 1964 when he and (now super celebrity) Regis Philbin spent the night in the house. "He ran out of the house like a scared chicken"..she always told the story to me. She thought Regis Philbin was a dunce from what Hans had said. "The man ruined a perfect night" Hans told my mother over dinner recalling the night spent in the house with Philbin. "He ruined everything", he said. Perhaps that's why nobody can stay in the house at night anymore...lol. Stupid Regis. But I did want to pass on my late condolences for Ms. Reading, as she really was state of the art and knew the house for over 40 years. My deepest condolences on her passing. I once spent the night in the Whaley House by accident[ this was before the doors were closed off by glass] and I never thought I'd live to see the morning. | Comments: Well, I went to the Whaley House last weekend; you know the weekend before Halloween. I thought it would be fun. But it was more creepy. To start off my fiance and I went into the dining room. The person started telling the story of the little girl who ate posion off the floor and I was standing by the wood stove and I ffelt tingling on my left hand and then it got more intense as the woman went on. Then the woman looked at me and asked if the little girl was holding my hand and at that moment the tingling stopped and I got out of the room. Well, from what the woman says, the little girl that died likes woman, pregnant women. She said that you may feel arms around your thigh like someone is hugging it or you might feel someone holding your hand. I didn't believe it unttil it happened to me. Trust me there is something going on in that house. |

I remember the stories my Grandmother( Georgia Twambly Taylor ) told me of how her Mother, Laura Warren Twambly, played instruments with the Whaley Family. I have mentioned it a few times to the tour guides but they dont talk about it and as I can recall my Grandma talked very highly of the Whaleys. I also recall a mention of a darker place in San Diego history ( My Grandma used to run medicine to the Madam of the house ) A Brothel called Canary Cottage... If anyone knows about this place and where it was located Id love to hear about it. ( Gramdmas gone now ) My Uncle Frank Vinole also was part of the history of San Diego yet I never have found the info on him . He was Pres. of Longshorsemans in the 30's 40's. Also that ,my family owned property on Market St. Charlie Twambly and that he was shot by my Great Grandmother one inch below the heart for the gambling of their saloon and market... from family members she warned him that next time she wouldnt miss... They were from Weaverville Ca. Gold miners and born in Maine... I have seen spirits at the Whaley house and was afraid to tell anyone... Now I am a Psychic and get paid to see Ghosts lol |

| Comments: I am a long time resident of San Diego. I have grown to appreciate and respect the significance of what Thomas Whaley has and tried to accomplish as a family man and citizen of San Diego. I am in support of his grievance against the County for an injustice of a non-compensated 'broken contract'. Perhaps someday this may be rectified to his liking and he may have peace. Though I have experienced ghostly apparitions on four separate occasions, none have been at the Whaley House, and this is ok. I have the luxery and blessing of living about 20-25 minutes away from Old Town, so I can go there any day or night as I wish. I have often visited the premises after hours when all the daytime traffic has passed and there is only the still of night, the house, and me present. I understand that this may legally constitute as a 'trespass' so I try to be mindful and respectful of my presence so as not to be abusive in any manner. Because I live in proximity and can visit as I wish, I do not go there with 'expectation' of witnessing paranormal activity, but only resign myself to perhaps another day, unlike many of you are not in a position to enjoy or appreciate. I wish you visitors a pleasant stay in San Diego and ask that you may remember that the Whaley House is not just a registered 'haunted house' by the state, but a vital part of a community where 'civilized' California began, to which we locals are very proud and thankful. | Comments: I also visited the Whaley House on July 4th weekend of 2004. My boyfriend and I took a tour mid-day. I took many pictures inside the house to see if I would capture any spirits in the pictures. Sure enough, I had 3 or 4 photos that contained a smokey haze. One that stands out is a picture I took looking up the staircase, there is a large plume off to the right. It was stunning. I sent them to my boyfriend who was stationed at Camp Pendleton at the time and he gave them to the Whaley House. They should be there if you look at the photo album. |

| Comments: I visited the house 4th of July weekend 2004. Took the Ghosts and Gravestones tour. No doubt, this house was clearly the highlight of the entire evening. The only thing I can say I experienced as a sure thing was when I was standing alone at the enterance to the parlor, just looking in kinda not paying attention to what was going on in the other rooms and all of a sudden I could smell cigar or maybe pipe smoke. My initial thought was, "wow, I can't believe someone is smoking in here! And right here in front of everyone (cuz it was so strong smelling)", but to my surprise, there was no one around... I was alone while the rest of the people on the tour were creaking around in the courtroom. Again, in the garden, a strong smell of lilac (not growing in the garden as far as I could tell)and at the same time I smelled the lilac, my sis was taking pix and could follow an orb that went right passed us! call it what you will, but I know what I experienced couldn't be explained. |

| Comments: I went to the Whaley House and was not impressed at all. I had no scared feelings or didn't see anything. Also I took a lot of pictures hoping that an "orb" (or whatever they are called) would show up but nothing... Maybe it's because we were there on Memorial Day Weekend and it was pretty crowded. But I didn't see anything scary or get any scared feelings.... The guy that gave us the introduction in the courthouse had a scary story about the woman following him down the stairs and he didn't see anything but supposedly it was all on camera and going to be on the BBC or something? If anyone knows anything about that could you please let me know when it will be on. I think it's called America's Most Haunted or something he said it would be on in June but I haven't seen or heard anything. |

| Comments: I have been to the Whaley House...and with all the excitement of being inside the Haunted House, I forgot everything that was said about the place, However I had a friend that brought a kid inside the Whaley House. The kids was overly active when they were downstairs and by the time they went upstairs the kid got really quiet and he was holding on to his mom very rightly. Then when they got out of the house the kid told his mom that something was staring at him the whole time they were there. But his mother told him that there was no one else down there. It was one of the reason I decided to go there. |

| Comments: I visited the Whaley House on January 1st, 2005 at night while on the Ghost and Gravestones Tour. Our tourguide, Elisabeth, told us the story about the girl who died after running into a clothesline is false and never happened. I developed my pictures a few days after I got back to Boston, and I noticed something wierd on the 9th step on the outside staircase. There is what appears to be a woman standing there in white. When I took the picture, nobody was on the step because there was a sign on them that did not allow anyone to go up them. It was very creepy. |

| Comments: I visited the Whaley house last Tuesday 11/2/04, according to the woman working that day we were the first visitors to go upstairs. I got the pictures on Saturday and have a couple of photos that show the "orbs" like seen in the scrapbook. In the picture I took into the upstairs bedroom across from the theatre there is a definate image of a man in a suit(long gray coat,white collared shirt,black tie)on the other side of the bed, sort of leaning to see out the doorway when I snapped a picture. Every picture I have ever seen of ghostly images,including the ones in the scapbook, I sceptically compared to images in the clouds,"if you look long or hard enough you can see anything." The image in my photo is so obvious that I have had a hard time coming to terms with what I am looking at and to be honest frightened, frightened to know that Ghosts really do Exist. I am going to get my photos to SOHO as soon as I can decide if I can to go back to the house or let my fear drive me to just stick them in the mail. |

| Comments: My Fiancee conviced me to visit the house at 10pm. We walked in the back yard and looked around. Less than two minutes later, 2 women and one man came out of the little house in the back dressed in old fashioned clothing. My fiancee was less than 100 feet and they walked right by him and up the stairs. they opened the door with no key and walked right in. No lights were turned on. I've been back since then, but nothing happened again except for the smell of perfume. |
