Wij hebben er zelf nl. 2. een reu van bijna 12 jr en een teefje van 6 jr. Nu kwamen we op jouw site terecht. En tot onze verbazing zagen we dat 1 van onze honden van jou af komt. zij is van 29-04-2001. jammer dat er geen foto's van dat nestje op staan. | Comments: | Beste Marianne, Bij deze laat ik je weten, dat wij onze Dylan(Feanaro Bragollach Dearon, geb 13-8-1992) op 6januari jl.hebben laten inslapen.Hij was bijna volledig doof, blind (en ook onzindelijk)en op 5januari kon hij niet meer staan. Hij is in z'n mand gaan liggen en at en dronk niet meer, hij was op. Wij missen hem, maar kunnen met fijne herinneringen aan hem terug denken. Het was een geweldig lieve hond,een beetje een "watje". Wat ons het meest bij zal blijven, is dat hij bijna tot z'n dood, zo lief was voor puppy's en hier zo graag mee speelde, waardoor andere mensen vaak dachten dat hij ook nog jong was. | Comments: | Many of the Soft coated wheaten terriers I see in the United States have these huge fluffy coats like sheepdogs. Mine does not have a fluffy coat at all. It is very soft but it is not like a massive fluffball. It is really more flat looking. And the color of her coat is not as light colored as all the others either. It is more of a brownish-tan color. I have seen very few that look like mine. But I hear that her coat is more common among the Irish wheatens rather than the American ones. Those big fluffy wheatens just look goofy. |

| Comments: | I LOVE this breed!! At least what I've seen of it so far.. One of my customers has a approx. 3 yr. old male named Seamus, and he is a real darling!!Follws me around like a shadow when I'm at their house (which I clean), yet knows when it's "enough", and calmly goes to lie down in one of his various spots. He's extremely intelligent and shares his home with 2 other large dogs (different breeds)and a 12 yr. old cat!! What a trooper!! Not being of the persuasion to spend large sums of money for any animal, I'll be probably forever on the lookout at a shelter or rescue that may have one for adoption as we currently have no pet and there is a gaping hole in our home because of this. |

| Comments: | Beste Marianne, Op 20 januari 2005 zal onze Seamus alweer 5 jaar oud worden. Het is ons groot brok liefde. Waaks en speels en sinds een jaar samen met een voormalige zwerfhoud uit Turkije. Het stel is erg blij met elkaar. In de buurt staan zij bekend als Ebony en Ivory. Voor wij aan de kerst kunnen beginnen moet Seamus nog wel onder het mes bij de dierenarts. Deze moet de chip die na de geboorte is geplaatst verwijderen. De chip is gaan wandelen (zat waarschijnlijk niet diep genoeg in de huid en te ver naar voren in de nek). De plek van de chip is nu voor op de rechterschouder. In een recordtijd van enkele dagen sterft daar nu de huid af. Onze Seamus is toch wel bijzonder want "wandelende chips" komen dan wel veel voor maar dat deze er zo spectaculair uitgewerkt worden is zeldzaam. De dierenarts is op de hoogte van de (mogelijke) overgevoeligheid voor verdoving en narcosemiddelen. Duim voor Seamus dat het goed gaat en dat hij toch nog een fijne Yule heeft. De beste wensen en knuffels voor alle honden en katten. Familie van DIjk. |

| Comments: | Beste Marianne Baas Becking, Met zeer gemengde gevoelens bekijk ik je site: met plezier over de mooie samenstelling, met warmte voor de mooie honden en met verdriet over onze eigen lieve Irial Iarla mo Lurgan. 15 jaar en 6 maanden is hij onze trouwe vriend en huisgenoot geweest. Op maandag 18 november j.l. heeft de dierenarts op ons verzoek een einde aan zijn leven gemaakt. Van een vrolijke, vriendelijke, nieuwsgierige hond is hij in een paar maanden tijd veranderd in een verdrietig, apatisch en angstig beestje, dat zijn dagen voornamelijk doorbracht met slapen of huilen. Hij leek de wereld om hem heen niet meer te kennen en hij reageerde uiteindelijk nauwelijks meer op onze aanwezigheid. Lichamelijk was er geen oorzaak te vinden buiten het feit dat zijn ogen en oren niet erg goed meer functioneerden. De dierenarts vermoedt dan ook dat het een kwestie van ernstige hersenveroudering is geweest. In eerste instantie dacht ik er wel vrede mee te hebben, omdat de laatste maanden wel erg verdrietig waren en omdat Irial nu geen verdriet meer heeft. We missen hem echter heel erg! | Comments: | What a wonderful idea to put photos of your Wheaten friends on your website! The photos are really terrific. It was particularly nice for me to see the photo of Hibernian Hero v.d. Keienhorst ("Buddy") - here's why: Anne Holahan and I bred to Hibernian Hero v.d. Keienhorst using one of Anne's 100% Irish bloodline bitches, Earlecroft's Ballytruckle Green, aka "Judy". Judy flew from Canada to Holland for the mating and stayed for two weeks to ensure the mating took. It did and Judy and Buddy had 6 puppies on December 8th, 4 girls, 2 boys. "Judy" is out of Earlecroft's Ventura, aka "Dublin", and Maroc Muiseog, aka "Molly". Dublin is out of Wheaten Rebel's Tagarach Rath and Briankeen Sorcha. Briankeen Sorcha lived with Joe O'Brien for 2 years, then with Emily Holden for 4 years, then with Anne Holahan. She came to my house when she was 7, just spayed and ready to retire. She discovered "dog beds" and decided to spend her retirement in an assortment of beds scattered around my house. She is now almost 10 years old. She has one of the most spectacular Irish coats I have ever seen. - Bye for now - Jolijne |

I'm in the USA and I've been breeding here on the shores of Lake Superior since 1986. I have some half Irish offspring of my "all American" girl and most recently bred one of these "kids" with another half Irish. I look forward to the day when there are more Irish types to choose from. I "outcrossed" my girl for health and genetics and like what I found a lot better. The world sure gets smaller fast, doesn't it! |
