Crayons is incredible but Crack in the Mirror is so powerful, it is hard to listen to even after multiple times. If I am brave enough, I'll enroll in next year's songwriting class at Kerrville. (I briefly met you at the mini-Kerrville a year ago at Dick Walker and Leon Peek's Camp Sweetness and Light. And was privileged enough to hear your performance at this year's big Kerrville.) It is a long drive from Oregon but it has been wonderfully worth it. |

A few years since the Coffee Pot, hangin' out in Craig County, catching the scene at Austin City Limits, wrestling with the boys, pickin' a bit with my favorite gal, seeing Gene backstage at a "George" concert. Boy does tempus ever fugit. Lookin' out at the snow here in Issaquah, WA, reminds me a bit of the Virginia snows that bound me to the red cabin on Craigs Creek. Christmas always brings the nostalgia out. Here's a piece my maternal grandmother wrote some years ago: "Christmas is remembering---remembering old happiness and the laughter of childhood
and the warmth of greetings echoing down the years from friends of yesterday. It is the deep sensing and savoring of messages of love and good will from friends of today. | Comments: | hello old friend just got off the phone with the Bushman and he told me about your web site.I think back to time spent in Mark Jarrets basement singing harmony with a lady named Betty Nicely.I got to jam with Al Coffey last SAT. nite at an outside cafe in Blue Ridge and I told the crowd I wanted to do a song that my old friend would not let me leave without singing Llowell Georges Willin.Al sang harmony on the chorus and it was great.
