Living in Canada, I'm constantly frustrated by so many greyhounds being available in Florida and other USA states and cities. You've brought in a great way of bringing greyhounds from over-greyhound-populated areas to areas where greyhounds are uncommon.
Maybe we'll be working together sometime in the future if I ever need a grey brought up from somewhere. Probably wouldn't be too soon, though. Hip hip, horray for you! :-) |

These dogs just want someone to love them. The guys who are working with these dogs really have fallen in love with them and what them to go to good homes.
I don't see the racing stop because to many people want entertainment but don't care at what expence to these loving dogs. I only wish it could be stopped and just put these dogs back where they really belong and that is with people who will love them! |

She was only 3 days off the track when we brouhgt her home. She is my little momma's girl. And BobbyCorbin, he just turned 3 yrs old. He is a big lover. He also came from the Bonita track. We took MaggieLynne with us when we went to look for another grey and MaggieLynne pick him to come home. They are the love of our lives. |

Before my husband adopted Tana he wasn't really fond of them. He didn't think that their were all that pretty. He wanted a pug. He no longer wants a pug, he wants to adopt another greyhound. My husband has the most fun playing with Tana.

| Comments: | I must say that I just happened to find your website as I was looking for Greyhound rescue organizations. Kudos to the wonderful work that you and your organization are doing! It's to bad that more people don't know what actually happens to these animals after they have served their purpose.
My husband and I have been rescuing Greyhounds since 1988. Through the years we have had three of our babies go over the Rainbow Bridge. Maximillian, Bradleigh and Camelot are all smiling down on those that help and rescue other Greyhounds. We loved our "kids" as much as our real kids, and and miss them. Losing each one never stopped us from giving life and love to more of these beautiful creatures. Right now Winston and Victoria are enjoying the beautiful Arizona climate. My family gave me a big fenced in run a few years ago & I can run for fun now all I want. I can bark at the deer & chase the rabbits here all I want. (Squirrels are boring.) I'm not as fast as I used to be but I can still outrun the average dog! I hope a lot of people rescue more of my fellow racers as we are neat & cool to have around. Where else can you have a couch potato that does 40 miles an hour and is ready to play at the drop of a squeaky ball? (My favorite is a yellow one with black dots & squeaks.) Time to go. It's time for one of my naps.

I think it is wonderful what you are doing to help find homes for the retired racing greyhounds. I commend anyone who is willing to work diligently and tirelessly to help save these wonderful animals. They so desperately deserve responsible and loving homes. I have been involved with greyhound adoption and advocation for almost a year now. My husband and I have found our passion. We adopted two retired racing greyhounds Chloe, the most beautiful red brindle and Sammy, a handsome red fawn. Chloe turned three in November and Sammy turned three in September. Both of our babies came from Naples/Ft. Myers track in Bonita Springs. We are so fortunate to have found them. Our greys have filled our lives with love, joy and happiness. We cannot imagine our lives without them. We have done countless events and M/G for the adoption group we adopted them from...GreyHeart Greyhound Rescue and Adoption of Michigan. A select few of us from GreyHeart have branched off and have started our own adoption group...Greyhound Expressions. We are really excited to be starting this adoption group. |

| Comments: | I have seen you several times on TV and want to congratulate you on the wonderful job you do for greys. Over the past 10+ years I have adopted five greys, two are still with me and three have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.
My first was a blue brindle who was the perfect ambassador for the breed. I took him to nursing homes and he greeted everyone and brightened their day. Next came Willie (black) and Jimmie (brindle) who were both wonderful big boys. About a year ago I rescued Yalla (fawn female) and a month ago I got Ben (fawn male)shortly after Willie died. They took to each other right away and love to go for walks and meet people. Keep up the good work! |

| Comments: | I am a big dog person and I spend time on line doing research on different dog breeds. We have a whippet that was a racer. (she is a couch potato now) And when I came across this wedsite and read what people did to exracing greyhounds I could not help but to cry. I was horrified to read about the way they were treated while they where racing and then the way they were killed when they were not winning money for there owners. How could people be so cruel?
One day I hope that my husband and I can adopt one or two of this amazing animals. I know that they make great pets and I believe that they all deserve a second chance. I also believe that dog racing should be illegal. The work that ya'll do is wonderful and I hope that we will be getting in touch with ya'll soon about adopting one of these wonderful dogs. We have loved animals all of our lives and we are sad to say both of our beloved dogs are terminally ill. We go by day to day caring for them not knowing what the immediate future holds. We are interested in the future of adopting a retired racer, but realize we need to deal with whats on our plate right now. I have several books I have purchased over the years about retired racers,but I am concerned due to the fact we also have 2 cats, a caged white dove, and a caged rabbit. The caged animals are not allowed out unless the room is secured so I am not as concerned about them as I am the cats and the baby. Also we live in a 2000 square foot townhome, is the idea of adopting a racer bad? I was wondering if you could please give me an honest perspective on what illnesses grey hounds are prone to having because our dogs seemed to have gotten all the genetic weaknesses. We have managed severe allergies, hip displasia, side effects of long term steroid use, arthitis, bladder cancer to name a few problems our girls have suffered and triumphed with....We view our animals as a part of our family and we would like to be as educated as possible to foster a long term relationship and bond. It breaks my heart to see them decline in their health, but I have to focus on how I can help animals in need in the future.

| Comments: | i just visited this site that talked about what happens to retired greyhounds, how they get "adopted" to research labs and later end up in garbage cans dead. i just wanted to say how disgusted i am that people actually do that! there was another case where they HANG greyhounds. i mean, come on! who on earth would actually have the heart to do something that malice! the greyhounds didnt do anything, they dont make the decision to race, and if they lose, they get killed? i'm sorry, but i think that these greyhounds deserve better than being "adopted" to research labs. i hope these greyhounds find awesome homes to live out the rest of their lives in peace and harmony instead of having their lives cut short by being dumped in garbage cans. |

The other day myself and children were watching Animal Tails on Television when the article came across about the after treatment of Greyhounds post racing days. My kids have never sat in such Awe as they heard the narator discuss what happens to the Greyhounds. They looked at me and asked, "Dad, can we save one?" I said, I'll check into it. I was barely able to keep my composure and understanding what they were feeling in their hearts. Well, I looked into them but since I work as a construction worker, times are tough for aquiring one. I know people have turned things around for these dogs, Greyhounds, and I very much would love to own one also. I just wish it was easier to aquire one without so much cost even though the reward is so great. I know my kids would love one and wife expressed concerns for the want of one also. Well, thanks for doing such a noble thing for these animals of great pride and love. Maybe something good will come our way and Ill get the oppurtunity to be the proud own of a Greyhound. | Comments: | I have adopted 2 GREAT girls, 1 almost 3 years ago (Farrah), the other about 1.5 years ago (Petrie), she has a heart problem, and has not been expected to live past 2 years. Petrie is doing VERY WELL, shows no sign of her condition,to this point, she is in a loving home, is happy and has the will to live!I have recently moved to Wrightsville Beach, NC, and both of my girls are VERY happy, Petrie shows no sign of illness, the joke in the family is, that Petrie will out last us all. The two, even though adopted more than a year apart, are very happy and dependent on each others company. The sweet girls, that are now a MAJOR part of my family (my neice, 9 yrs old, and my nephew, now 13)love and appreciate the plight of the greyhond. I get stopped several times by strangers when walking the girls, and everybody is shocked by the story I tell them, as well as co-workers. I used to live in Raleigh, NC, 6 months ago, our state capital, and had the same response. To date, 75% of the people that heard the story and background of Greyhounds from me, plus met "my girls" have either researched or adopted some of these mistreated beings ( I will not ever refer to them as dogs, because of their personalities and the way they have been treated, you really can't....they are "Refugees". I would be more than willing to be apart of the team/orginization that is ready to let the world know about the plight if the GREYHOUND |
