Also, several of the Wings players took pay cuts and deferred salary in order to have Brett Hull come to the Wings, so you can't blame everything on the ownership (which I happen to think is doing just fine anyway). Even so, the great players would go elsewhere if they weren't interested in playing in Detroit. You can't deny that the Wings have a lot of talent that has been coming up from Grand Rapids too. That is good coaching and scouting. (Oh yeah, but you ignorant people out there seem to think that everything about the Wings sucks). As far as the fans travelling to other cities to see the Wings play, well perhaps it is because they couldn't get tickets to a home game...the Joe Lewis Arena has been sold out for close to (if not more than, by now) 300 consecutive home games.
So why don't all of you Red Wings haters just shut the hell up and maybe look at what is wrong with your teams, instead of criticizing another team, especially when you obviously don't know the facts.
