You're work is absolutely beautiful. Just one week ago, on 11/16/06 we had to say goodbye to our beautiful GSD, Ruby. She was one of a kind and I miss her terribly. I know in my heart that we did all we could for her, but her PFs become uncontrollable and we knew she was no longer enjoying life as she once did when she was healthy. Ruby was only 10 years old; we thought we'd have her for a few more years before we had to let her go. I know that she is running and playing in a beautiful place where she is free from pain. I only hope that she knew how much we loved her. We miss our beautiful "Ruby Tuesday" and our lives are so different now, without her. Sweet dreams, my precious Ruby. |

| Comments: | Your site is very touching. I currently have a german shepherd - she will be 13 this friday. Her name is Abbey and I have had her since she was 4 months old. She has DM and is starting to have a lot of trouble with her back legs. She is mentally very healthy and loves to be with me where ever I go.
I wish that when she was ready, she would just go to sleep one night and not wake up. I don't know if I can have her put to sleep, take her life away? Yet I know it will be the right thing to do for her. Thanks for listening. Debbie and Abbey |

| Comments: | What a great site with so much info on health issues! I lost my first GSD at the age of 111 to DM, and now my Iska has been diagnosed with PF at the age of 7 1/2. Hopefully we will get her into remission, with the help of the PF Group it will be a little easier to deal with.

| Comments: | We are just so in love with our beautiful Jewel! It is hard to believe she has been with us less than three weeks! She is so interested in everything and inquisitive, intelligent and very obedient. You can "see" her thinking!
To watch her run is a delight - she fairly flies - she moves so effortlessly and as fast as the wind! She has the most beautiful face and eyes and we love her colouring. We can hardly believe we were so lucky to find such a wonderful companion dog! She has settled into our lives so readily and become a part of our family, it would appear that she is as much in love with us as we are with her. She seems to be happy all the time and knows there are times to play, times to rest and times just to be quiet together . Really an amazing - that is AMAZING - dog. Thank you very much for trusting us with one of your precious gems! |

| Comments: | Kinder is my most favored son, GSD, 11 yrs old. We found each other after the death of my previous long time companion, Nicky. Nick crossed the rainbow bridge in his 13 year on earth, and his 7th with me. When I adopted Kinder was between 3-4 yrs old. After we arrived home, it became very clear he had been abused and had sight problems. He was terrifed of tall men, and never made a single sound for weeks. It was months before I heard his bark voice. Now, many years later, he's feeling much better about his place in the world. My son is diagnosed with PF.... I'm scared. I doubt these are the type of comments your looking for. Sorry. Your childern are beautiful, they make me smile. Blessed be your lives and dreams. Thank You. |

| Comments: | Carol, , I have tried various types of food but the REAL culprit seemed to be the raw hide chews. I slowly cut them out and then stopped completely. Sigh, poor Shay. I sometimes think, she thinks I am punishing her. This seemed to solve the problem of loose bowels. Last night I did the first bowel stimulation UGH! Not as bad as I thought it would be. But I don’t think anyone would understand it other than this group. At least I didn’t have to worry about the mess I find when I come home, or wake up to.
I currently have her on Hills prescription diet. Canine I/d I get at the vet. Now I found Saturday on her elbow what started out as a small patch of red skin I thought was from lying down all the time. Then all of a sudden it swelled up and is much larger, sort of a fat football shape. The only way to describe its appearance is if you imagine what the human brain looks like with all the crevices and swirls , and down size it to about 2” length by 1” wide over her elbow. I go to the vet tomorrow and have it looked at. I worry its some sort of tumor and trying to keep it covered is pretty hard. We’’ know more tomorrow. Thanks Kathy o u here on shay. |

| Comments: | I found this site by accident but I am a german shepard dog owner. I had two of them at one time and my female passed away two years ago at the age of 7 yrs old.
We still have the male, Sebastian, and he has been the best dog we've ever owned. He has been with us for nine years now and the people that we got him from still come and visit him. Matter of fact I just recently took a bunch of pictures of him. I was thinking of Tasha (my baby girl that I miss more than words can say) and I don't have many pictures of her by herself. They were always a "couple", always together. Together they had two litters of puppies that we still go visit in their 'new' homes. What a great experience it has been raising these four legged children. |
