After your announcement on Horizons I reckoned I should check it out nonetheless. Well, I went to see these Hope pictures you linked to. And who would have thought? You know it's only been 3 months since the horrific terror attacks but the image of planes crushing into skyscrapers had already burned itself into my brain as something "normal". We're bombarded by terrible news 24/7. It didn't take too long for me to accept such atrocities as nothing much special just as I do the reports of starving children in Africa, bloodshed in Palestina or mayhem just outside my doorstep in Northern Ireland. But these pictures of people mourning all around the world reminded me of the weeks after the attacks. When flags were at half mast all over Europe for a week. When people sang the American Anthem in capital, simply out of solidarity. When people were crying over this tragedy. When people said "Today we all are Americans". We should make sure that we never forget these pictures, or more important, the feelings we all felt then. This is the legacy we all should keep alive for eternity. I learned the same way you did...drawing in school when I should have been doing my work. Your artwork is very good. Very imaginative. Let me leave you with a few points of advice that have helped me develop my talent. I believe all us artists should help each other out, don't you? Draw as much as you can, and everything you can. Draw things you normally would'nt draw, experiment with all types of ways to draw. Even if you're just doodling on pieces of paper. Trust me, the more you draw the more you harness your talent. Keep challenging yourself, even if you think that you can't do it, do it anyways. Constantly push your limits. Be your own teacher. Get ideas from anyplace, friends, movies, books...etc. Associate with other artists if at all possible. Never give up your goal and grab any opportunity you can no matter how small. Good luck! |

It has inspired my for over 20 years! i am in college now ,destined to be an art teacher. I would highly recomend a figure drawing class. you will not regret it! I too started out in the comic book vain. I got accepted to the Joe Kubert school but found out comics weren't for me anymore. Any way I have prattled on enough,just wanted to give some positive feed back. Keep up the great work and keep drawing.
