Lots of history connected to Battery House. Just love your Website where I can go back all these years and remember my schoolmates etc. I moved to Canada in 1966 but, I will always remember all my loved ones, yes! all my special memories from Fife.
God willing, I will make the trip again-sometime soon.

I've always wanted to visit the birthplace of my great grandmother and have been attempting in depth search, on where she lived, and thanks to your website, although I don't know where it was located on a map, at least I do know it existed. Now I'm trying to find out a little more about her. Isabella Todd b May 14, 1852. Your site is the only one that even mentioned, Springfield and the churches. Thank you so much for your efforts. I'm retired and live in Lakewood, Ohio, U.S.A. Kay Wallis

Comments:Hi,
Brian from Dublin here . Great site. I come from
a long line of Fifers strectching back to Inverkeithing in
1737 and possibly Dunfermline in 1719.My father and grandfather both called Thomas Drummond Rennie were born in Edinburgh ( father 1909 grandfather 1879).
Before then the line was ...
John Rennie b Dunfermline circa 1842
William Rennie b. Inverkeithing 1802
Sebastian Renny b. Inverkeithing 1773
George Renny b. Dunfermline 1737
Alexander Rennie b. ?? Possibly Bo'Ness

Note I went back to Dysart births in 1688 and found as far as George Renny's Grandmother a Barbara St Clare.

Perhaps these names will ring bells with other searchers. I now a Marc Rennie and a Bob McEwan are probably also seaching the line,

It's fantastic to see so many great people such as yourself helping others to unearth and enjoy the history
of Fife and it's people.
Keep up the good work,
Brian.

P.S. Notice how the spelling of Renny changes to Rennie
practically bang on 1800. See , nervertheless, that Alexander spelt his name Rennie.

Comments:When I started searching my Scottish Fife family history, The Fife Post was a great guide in 1989 for a rank beginner in genealogy, and it remains so to this day. Thank you, Tommy, for all of the arduous work you have put into your website. My folk hail from Boreland (Dysart parish), and the men (and, perhaps, the women and children) worked in the mines. My Great, great grandfather James Adamson (1829-1879) came to the United States in 1851 on the ship "S.S.Olympus" and finally settled in the Nebraska Territory in 1858. Have discovered many cousins over much of the world.

Most of the family were coal or limestone miners for most of those 250 years. Would love to hear from any Fifers of Maxwell origin, especially from the Kettle, Cults, Cupar areas.
Hopefully, I will be travelling to Fife in a couple of years, bringing my wife, kids, and my mom and dad. Dad would love to see his father's home!

Comments:Dear Tommy,

Whilst searching for Lachlan MACBEAN (in connection with our CUNNINGHAM Line)we were led to your webpage through "Google." We found your webpage extremely interesting with a very detailed view of Kirkcaldy and Fife.

Through our resent research, we found that Lachlan MACBEAN was a journalist in Kirkcaldy and wrote a book about Pet Marjorie in 1904. Lachlan MACBEAN's sister, Mary married Hugh CUNNINGHAM. There are CUNNINGHAM/MACBEAN relatives living in New York, Connecticut and Florida. We recently found that Lachlan's daughter, Mary, was a librarian in Kirkcaldy and died at the age of 61 (in the 1940's).

We live here in Florida, 15 miles from the Kennedy Space Center, and have done most of our genealogical research via the Internet, using Scotland's People extensively. Can you direct us to more information on Lachlan MACBEAN. We know he also wrote a book in which he translated hymns from Gaelic to English. He seems to have been a very interesting person.

Best Wishes,
Jean MCMILLAN FUHRER - nfuhrer@bellsouth.net

Comments:What a wonderful website you have. All the more interesting as my great-grandmother was a Kirkcaldy. Her grandfather James Kirkcaldy emigrated to Tasmania from Glasgow in 1860 following successful service in the Crimean War. He and his future wife Elizabeth Turnbull both left Glasgow at the same time and married in Launceston, Tasmania in 1862. I am under the assumption that James was from Fife but am unable to find any more info. other than that I have written. I have other Scottish heritage and have always wanted to visit (even before I was aware of any Scottish link!!) Must be in my blood. Thanks again for an informative site.

Comments:My first visit to your site - it's great! I've learnt quite a bit about Fife. I'm researching a Whyte family from the Dunfermline area - Crossford and Dalgety are the 2 places I've found so far. I'd be interested to hear from any Whyte descendants as I'd love to establish contact with distant relatives.
