| Comments: | Nice site Keith. Your musings on getting a 19 set working ‘as a lad’ were almost identical to mine – except I was given one by my uncle George who had bought it (like yourself) thinking it would be –plug and play’ only to relegate it to the shed when he realized it was beyond his technical prowess. He was please when I showed an interest in radio when I was around 14 and he took me down to the shed to rescue it. I too had the same thrill when I fathomed-out the circuit (I actually traced it as I did not have the diagram) and got it to work – I can still recall that fusty smell when I was poking around under the chassis…. Unfortunately I loaned the set to a friend some years later and that was the last I saw of it.
Current/recent restorations include a Racal RA-117, HRO, several Eddystones and many 1920-1940 domestic sets. |

I really enjoyed reading up on 'our' ancestors. I come into this part of the 'tree' via the marriage of Samuel Millar and Elizabeth Bradford in West Lulworth 30.09/1790. I think you have a mistake here: Simon Bradford was baptised on the 10th February 1564 at Cattistock. His name was also spelt as Symon. On the 2nd May 1594 at Cattistock, he married Annstice Dawe and they had two sons. The two sons of Simon and Annstice were Thomas Bradford, baptised 10 February 1563/64 Thomas Bradford was baptised on the 4th September 1594. He married Mary Lush You have a really nice pretty site. Well done! |

it can all be put back etc. I am trying to find a photo/details of an EKCO Coronation (for the coronation that never happened) model radio gram. it was probably 1934/35.I tried to repair it in the 50s after which it rapidly became a blanket storage box!!. I have been reading a pile of your mags given to me after the death of one of your members. Best Wishes Albert Heyes |

I've visited other sites and always feel nostalgia at the sight of all that valved stuff.........Take a look inside a DAB radio and compare it with the view inside say a 1940s or 50s set - there's no comparison! Anyway, thanks for a really good site and keep up the good work!! |

Do you know when and who emigrated? I found you while looking for another painting of old Fordington. It is similar to your but from a different angle. Are you aware of it? The Cann family I am looking for is one where Peter Burchell(Mason by trade) born in Ireland abt 1813, died in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton - date unknown, married a Bridget Cann in 1841 on 6 June in Sydney, Nova Scotia. They had a daughter Jane Burchell who married a Samuel Hudson (Tinker by trade)was born in England - parents Thomas (a blacksmith) and Elizabeth. |

| Comments: | My name is Gary Cann and my roots trace back to England in the late 1700's, then get fuzzy. My great-grandfather, John Cann was born in the mid 1800's and had nine children. The common names in the Cann family tree, (Richard, Thomas, John, James, Howard, Clarence, Bill) all seem to be consistent with old country family names, but I don't have any written history. John Cann was the father of my grandfather Richard, who had two son's, Ralph and Calvin (who is my father). This large family were mainly in Peotone, IL and were farmers who came from PA. Any information that someone can share would be appreciated. I live in Atlanta (Alpharetta) GA.

| Comments: | Hi there! My late father John Cann was from Guernsey, Channel Islands. He was very interested in the family tree, but had only managed to get back to a George Cann (b. 1863), his grandfather. After that he was able to trace back only on the female side. I am trying to rectify that. Can you tell me if the coat of arms of Sir Robert is common to all branches of the Cann family? Look forward to hearing from you, Trish. |

My name is Dwayne Cann and I have been researching my ancestors. I was hoping I might get lucky and receive a little bit of information from you. Up to now I have reached as far as back as to my Great, great great Grandfather Charles Cann. He came to Exeter Ontario from England in 1858 with his wife Elizabeth Cann and their 3 children, William H., Elizabeth born 1853, and (I’m not sure if it is Marg Jane) Mary Jane born 1850. I believe Charles died on October 9 1870, in Huron City, Ontario and Elizabeth died in 1898 in Exeter Ontario. William H. was born in England on Nov. 18, 1846. He married Catherine Fuss, I’m not sure when, and they had 9 children. I believe all children were born in and around Exeter Ontario, Their children were Lorne Conrad, John Milton born May 13, 1879, William Charles born January 18, 1875, Percy Franklin born April 6, 1877, Henry G. born January 25 1873, Cora MeDora born October 24, 1883, Arthur born October 13, 1888, Minnie born August 21, 1891and the youngest Lora (Laura) born on November 9, 1897. All of them Cann’s. Lorne Conrad was born on Sept 20, 1881. All were apparently born in Exeter Ont. Lorne Conrad was my Great Grandfather. He in turn had three boys, Edwin William Lorne Cann, Arthur Franklin and Harold Cann, Edwin was born in Ontario and Arthur and Harold born in Birtle Manitoba. Edwin had two sons also. William Lorne Cann and Harold Cann. William Lorne is my father. Edwin William Lorne is my grandfather, Lorne Conrad my great grandfather, William H. my great great grandfather and finally Charles. I’m stuck on what ship Charles arrived on, where in England he came from, and when he was born? If you could fill in any of these questions that would be great. If you are related to any of the above ancestors any information on this would be greatly appreciated as well. Hopefully you find this interesting as well. Lorne Conrad moved to Birtle Manitoba around 1900, and possibly one or more of his brothers and sisters. My question is more directed to Charles and Elizabeth if there is a document showing where they came from, I believe it may have been Devon or Exeter England. My e-mail address is drcann@shaw.ca Thank you in advance Dwayne Cann |
