| Comments: | I was on the mighty J from Feb 1966 to Sept 1967 requested and an earley out to attend college. I worked in the hull plate and sheet metal storerooms, i also worked in the supply office.When I first arrived on the J iwas assigned to the deck division swabbed the decks painted the side of the ship on a scaffold holding me and another sailor painting wow what a blast. I requested to go to S1 Div. supply.What a change. I even stored a lot of whisky, rum, vodka and tequila too! I loved every minute being on the J.West pacs and and all the great people I worked with and met from other divisions. I'am looking for Jim Schmidt,SAl Soloman, Jim Freidman Rossi from the Diving locker, a guy named Phill Peronni who was in love with a beautiful real blond and I was also in love with her too she dated both of us, she was from Fla. anyway she bolted on both of us.Like to see the guys and BS them . GOD bless and God bless all the crew of the U.S.S. Jason from 1941 to 1995.

| Comments: | The USS Jason was my home for almost 2 years. She was a grand lady and I will never forget her. I was an undesigated FN stricker when I was sent aboard her in december of 1970. I worked in X Division first under the direction of the Master at Arms then went to R5 division as a Opticalman stricker, then immediatley to mess cooking. After mess cook duty went to R1 division because they really did not have a billet in R5 and just before mess cook duty again I went an applied for an opening in the Dental Department. I was acccepted as a worhty choice for Dentalmen striker and left the the Jolly "J" in August of 1972 to go to DT school in San Diego. After DT school I tried to get back to the Jason but the Navy sent me to Sigonella, Sicilly. I will never forget the days aboard that great big beautiful ship. E.A. Loerch FN/SN/DT3 4/22/08 |
