First of all: Thank you for a very informative and interesting website! Secondly: I hope that you are able to help me in my research on Sufism in India. I am a Danish writer and radio journalist, specializing in Religion. I have written books about refugees in Denmark, about Muslim women and about Islamism in Denmark. For the last 2-3 years I have been working on a book about Sufism, and I have visited and interviewed sufis in around 10 different countries. I plan to go to Delhi and maybe also Chandigarh in March or April next year (2011) to do some research on Sufism in India today. I would like to attend a Sufi festival and meet some Sufis and talk to them about their beliefs and practice - and about the importance of Sufism in peacekeeping processens and interreligious dialogue. Also, I would like to meet som qawwali/Sufi singers. I hope that you might be able to help me get in touch with Sufis and Sufi singers in Delhi and/or Chandigarh? I have heard that there is an annual Urs of the sufi saint Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Aulia in March or April next year in Delhi. But I haven't been able to find exact information about the date of the festival. Could help me with some information? Also, I have read about a festival of Sufi music of poetry, arranged on the initiative of a Sufi foundation in cooperation with the film director Muzaffar Ali, called the held Jahan-E-Khusrau Festival. And gulal is not glow but coloured powder. Likewise dhamaal is also used for play around the festival. Holi IS a theme in Khusro's sufi poetry and it seems a shame to deny it. |

In 1974 EMI Pakistan produced a unique work on Hazrat Ameer Khsroo (RA) with a title of "A Tribute to Khsroo" at the same time India EMI produced an album on the same occassion which was contributed by Dr. Zoha Ansari with his tribute in words and Murli Monohar Surp as Music Director. The singers late Mukesh, Sudha Malohotra and others contributed with their voice. I have this Album which I want to present to your Sufi Music collections. I also had the albums produced by EMI Pakistan on the subject and these albums 5 were on 35 RPM long play. Unfortunately I lost part of my collection and these long plays records were also the part in loss.
