Comments:I just finished listening to some of Don's recordings, and felt that I had to tell you how much I enjoyed them. I am 84 years old, but they made me feel young again. My wife and I had the pleasure of hearing Don perform in Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL some years ago. To hear that voice coming from an elderly, white-haired genleman was no less than amazing. He is gone now, but he lives on with his music. Our belated condolences to his widow.
Sincerely,
Walter L. Lewis

Comments:Just thought you'd like to know, the fond memories of hearing your Don sing all those beautiful love songs in the 50s and so on. Whenever I had a girlfriend, which was very often, I would sing his songs to them. And still to this day, I still know some of those songs and I still sing them. As I'm reaching the age of 74, I go to a different rest home every week and sing to our beautiful senior citizens. Although most of the songs I sing today are Christian, I occasionally sneak in a Don Cornell song. Mrs. Cornell, I believe you were priviledged to be married to what seemed to be a great guy. I can't help but wonder if Don had the priviledge of knowing Jesus before he went to sleep. We are so blessed to be able to claim God's promise that someday we will see our loved ones once again. In closing...you'd be happy to know your husband's positive influence in my life. Singers will come and go but there will only be one Don Cornell.

Sincerely Yours,
Don Harris

As well, my mother was a music major at college, my dad

I studied violin and piano at school, then advanced piano under a European concert pianist. My present dream: to receive my Knabe grand piano that my father taught me on from my sibling brother. Needing some sympatico help to do so.....

Comments:Somewhere back in the mid "50's" Don Cornell got together with a couple other male singers and they made a 45 record with once song being "Heart of My Heart". When I moved to Pensacola from Albany, my son-in-law mistakenly picked up a box of records he thought were to go to the town dump. I didn't know for a month. Does anyone know where I could find a copy of that record. I think Vic Damone was one of the other singers. Any help anyone?

Comments:I met Mr. Cornell when I was still in school, and my father was a good friend of the Partner and Chief Executive of the plush Beverly Hills Supper Club, in the Cincinnati area. He was among the top headliners who starred there during the 1950's - when there were numerous such clubs throughout the U.S. He was as popular as any who appeared, others including Sophie Tucker, Ted Lewis, Nelson Eddy, Myron Cohen, etc., etc. He also appeared on local television whenever in-town. I included an added paragraph to his Wikipedia profile in this regard, which you might like to view. A truly GREAT singer, personality, and exemplary gentleman.

Comments:Hi from a fan in the UK.
Being a lover of good music and a fan of Don Cornell, I have ben trying to find a copy of his recording of a song entitled The Book. No mention of it in any of my UK record books, but I am sure I remember him singing this song about 1954/55. Am I wrong or can anyone help me in my search?
Don was about the last of the great band singers, the current crop are fairly average impersonations.
Regards to Dons family and all his appreciative fans.

I believe my father, Frank Sorrell (Sorrentino) worked with Mr. Cornell during his Sammy Kaye days. My father was a guitarist with Sammy Kaye then went out on his own and had moderate success in New York and Virginia. Believe it or not - I think my step mother still has the original 78rpm recording of the song that Mr. Cornell recorded with my dad's band. There were a couple of other songs that I think Mr. Cornell recorded with my dad - "It's Merry Christmas Time" and "Rock Island Line". I am delighted that I found this site!!
