Tim: Wow, you saved pictures of all your former bands on this site, great idea. I was staying at The Disneyland Hotel in Feb 97. The Band in the lounge was 'Soto'. Making converstion, I told them that I was from Spokane. Thier (five string) bass player asked if I knew Tim Keliher, said you were a great drummer and he missed you very much. Small world. Looks like you've made a great music career for yourself. By the way: I was rumaging through Mike Cavender's old promo picture box, and found 2 great shots of Randy Hansen (as Hendrix). Jerry dear...Just taking another look at your schedule and when you are playing around here. Looking at the vintage photos make me feel really old. The original Zu pictures bring back so many memories of Parkers, Lake Hills etc. Doug, Ron, Brad. I hear from Doug and Ron every so often. I was saddened to hear about Mike Cox I did not know about that until I was crusing through the NW Band website seeing what everyone is up too. What ever happened to Brad Miller? You look just as I always remembered you (big goof)a little more Jon Cryer now. Jen and I will pop in and surprise you one night when you close to town..I would love to see you and remember some of the old days. I guess that is a sign we are all getting alittle older when we look back at the good old days. Take care and write back if you get a chance.

I was 15 years old and absolutely in love with music. Laurel Mullen Sheridan introduced me to the band. It was the iteration with Doug Heath, Ron Foos, Brad Miller & Jerry. Merrilee was in and out of a number of shows. Anyway, I was a child of the 60's with flowers in my hair. Laurel & I sneaked into Parker's Ballroom and that was the night I became a musician. I was also so totally in love with Doug Heath that I had stars in my eyes. Because I was underage, Doug and Jerry pulled me backstage and shooed off all the boys. They treated me like a little sister and made sure that I did not get led astray. I recently was telling that story to Bob Babbitt (Motown)and he told me that I was beyond lucky considering they were "musicians after all". And so it was. My 16th birthday cake had "City Zu" emblazened on top. I still have the pictures of it. Thanks for taking care of me and treating me like the little kid I was. I am now a guitar player myself and married to an extraordinary bass player, music educator and solo jazz fusion artist. www.royvogt.com
By the way, back then Brad Miller was married to Gayla and they were raising Afghan Hounds. Myself, Laurel, her sister Kathy and the world famous Katy McGuire went to the lake to see you guys alot too. I lived on Alki Beach where I had my first guitar. It was a Silvertone with strings about six inches off the neck. It never was in tune so I threw it off the balcony of the Harbor West Appartments and into the ocean. Impetuous youth! For me it was the Beatles, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Miles, and the list goes on. Those were they days.... | |

Sure miss you guys here in wendover. When you get a chance make a wrong turn and make it back it would be good to see you guys again. I dont know if anyone told you about Miles dying of a heart attack a couple months ago. It was sure a shock here for us. Also playing around on youtube seen the video city zu too much too soon. Is that one of Jerrys old songs? Youtube is sure a great place to get old videos and music from the 50's and 60's. Kathy have you listened any to Feist she reminds me of you great songs(she writes) and an incredible voice.
